I wouldn't be so sure about that...Yeah, but they're not taking them directly from someone else's essay. That's the difference.
A lot of people do it.

In a sense yes.
They will be formulated on your own understanding of the course material, theorists etc. So it's not 100% original. However, it is your interpretation of these ideas combined.
What you are suggesting is taking someone else's understanding of the text (in this case your friends) and passing it off as your own interpretation. That is plagiarism.
If everyone is looting a store in riot, that doesn't make it any less illegal. It's still plagiarism, regardless how many people are doing it.I wouldn't be so sure about that...
A lot of people do it.
I wasn't saying that it wasn't plagiarism, I was disagreeing with you saying that others don't do it.If everyone is looting a store in riot, that doesn't make it any less illegal. It's still plagiarism, regardless how many people are doing it.
It was in reference to those who are following the rules.I wasn't saying that it wasn't plagiarism, I was disagreeing with you saying that others don't do it.
There's only so many quotes and ideas in a text, so there's always going to be overlap.is it plagiarism if I use quotes and technique from my friend's essay but use another related text using my quotes and ideas/techniques. so I'm kinda like making an essay with his idea and my idea but I'm writing it on the spot during the exam.
Yes. Because they're coming from someone else's essay, and not your own analysis.is it plagiarism if I use quotes and technique from my friend's essay but use another related text using my quotes and ideas/techniques. so I'm kinda like making an essay with his idea and my idea but I'm writing it on the spot during the exam.
