The term islamists designate the spread of shariah law or guidance of the social order through religion and blocking anything that is non-muslim. Just look at Saudi arabia and their censorship towards the west. The only reason why we deal with them is a. they have a lot of oil 2. they are a monarchy. Monarchs seem to get along quite well with the british crown. then again it was the british crown who put them in power in the first place.
The Muslims brotherhood is a very very religiously based organisation and they want to rid egypt of any western influence. Just look at the drop in tourism after they came in power... They essentially installed shariah law in major cities and banned alcohol, killing the tourism industry.
Frostbitten: It's not just the middle east, same thing happened in the Philippines, malayasia and indonesia. The only thing in common with local insurgents and global jihadists is the fact theyre muslim, and thats the only thing that brings them together.
Have you lived in Saudi Arabia, i have and they do not 'cencor' the west its a normal country. Australia and the UK have little influence in Saudi Arabia, its all America there.
What? Do you even know what the protests are about? The EGYPTIAN PEOPLE, its citizens, want the Muslim Brotherhood. They want that.
Dont you think that the people have a right to choose what they want? More than 90% of Egypt is Muslim. What's the problem of installing an Islamic party. No, Egypt doesnt want to get rid of any western influence, Egypt wants the US and Israel to leave town.
Are you saying its bad to be Muslim, Period? or is it Islam bad for the west?
Egypt has a very advanced army please understand that, its not in Israel's and Americas best interest to lose control of the middle east. Libya got rid of there president and syria is about to, all they need now is leadership, and Egypt will be that leadership.
The Egyptian Army wants to keep Egypt secular. The legitimate president of Egypt Mohammed Morsi was over thrown in a coup by the military, supported by the US. You can understand that the people didnt like that.
A country has the right to pick who leads it and under what laws.
P.S Frostbitten, can you link me to the videos of the "protesters wielding AKs and then hiding behind bystanders"?
