How is everyone going as half yearlies are coming up?

My recommendation is not to bog down on finishing all your notes but get into past papers asap. This will really differentiate you because exam technique and the ability to analyse what the question is actually asking is the key for these type of tasks.
I have no idea how to write an economics essay hahaha gg

I don't have the time lol i'm too busy doing maths
I see that your Math interest overtakes all subjects.

Just be careful and make sure that you get a little bored of it here and then allowing you to do some work from other subjects.

I agree this piece of advice fully:)-very good advice. The amount of students I have observed busy finishing their notes instead of doing past papers is absolutely astonishing.

That's the reason why the notes should be consolidated in holiday study and nearly finished now (I had my half-yearlies at the end of term 2 so it was ages away for me).

Keep on going with it and learn it all asap. However, you can use past-papers as a great way to learn new content.

So you may actually be able to learn that extra content you haven't done yet by doing some past paper work.

What's in your half yearly? Like what topics are you getting tested on for each subject?

Just science stuff. Half yearly contains term 1 and term 2 content. But term 1 I learnt one module. Term 2 learning another module.

If you get an essay on BOP and you haven't studied make sure you prepare for the butthurt that soon follows.

You can't bs that shit, so gg nr

Yep, i saw it first hand last year. People wrote all their notes up and may be strong with the content but they haven't developed the writing skills to answer the question. It sounds simple but successfully answering it to what the question actually requires (e.g analyse, evaluate) is a different story, you can't regurgitate content anymore and expect to get marks.

That's the reason why the notes should be consolidated in holiday study and nearly finished now (I had my half-yearlies at the end of term 2 so it was ages away for me).
Yes i agree, by the time term 2 started i had already finished studying my topic 1 content (for business and eco at least). People are getting swamped now with topic 2 content and they won't have any time to study topic 1 content. Believe it or not 2014'ers, topic 1 plays a large role in your half yearlies.

What if I havn't learnt everything required for the half yearly yet... (probably wont be done UNTIL the half yearly lol...)
You're in for a stressful ride :p

A way i found to efficiently study is to just do past papers. If you can't remember the content for a certain area go back and overview the content required to answer that question. Do as many short answers as you can and you'll eventually cover most of the examinable content. This is something i would do compared to memorising all my notes and having no time to do past paper questions.

Another tip is to read the hsc markers comments on questions you answer. By doing this you'll soon understand what the marker expects from you and if you get a similar question in the half yearlies you're bound to nail it if you remember what is expected. Make sure you get a teacher/tutor to mark your questions though, that is how you learn from your mistakes.

No. In my school the class finished everything for the tests (half the courses) only a few days before half-yearlies. I finished a week before that to get some good study in, as I used the summer holidays wisely to get ahead in Maths, Physics and Chem.

If you don't understand the concept your bullshit won't make sense, and thus you won't get the marks. Having a lack of statistics is also a killer for people who cram eco, use this site if you want to spend like 5 minutes revising stats

You can bullshit topic 1 though, dat is all rote learnt rubbish.

You know, eco is the only subject that stresses me out. It stresses me out more than maths and english combined because its so content heavy + memorising stats and writing essays is hard.

I don't get how you can bullshit at all in eco since if you make things up, markers will obviously know since nothing makes sense and in eco, everything is like all logical and shit that you can't make things up i reckon. Thats why i find it so difficult

Exactly. In cases like this if you forget content you can logically work the concept out and bs the life out of it.

You can also bs stats (to an extent) but this is for minor stats like HDI, if you get major things wrong like the cash rate it's gg nr for you.

I made up about 20 pages in my eco exam. Only just squeezed in a Band 4. So basically, you can't bullshit through 90% of subjects.
