yep I completely get you. but ive noticed a lot of students esp in the western Sydney area tend to have somewhat sexist traits/mindsets even if they go to co-ed schools. idk if a lot of these guys say things as a joke or if they genuinely believe it... however im 90% sure the type of ppl we were discussing before are a lot worse 💀 Its actually shocking that ppl genuinely see each other in those ways HOWWW
Usually a lot of people in Western Sydney (including me) have immigrant backgrounds, and most cultures historically are sexist like that. Tbh I just don’t engage with men like that because it won’t go anywhere, and then I hope other women do the same. Lowkey some women don’t even like women though so that’s rough.
But when you combine ingrained sexism and obscene wealth you just get a damn behemoth of a man that has no class consciousness or empathy for women. It also doesn’t help that most private schools are 90% white which adds a layer of racism onto that.

sorry long ass message…

i’m in mechsoc and elsoc, (mechanical / electrical engineering) and there’s SOOO many more. societies are funded by the uni and very very busy. there are many societies that have bi weekly trips to the bar down the street 🤣. if that isn’t for you (it wasn’t for me) there are so many other societies and they are all very active.

for a math course, there’s even math societies that give you detailed course notes for your courses before you go through them, very cool

i know a LOT of math majors, and yes it’s hard but you partially get to decide the difficulty. some subjects come with a standard difficulty and a harder difficulty (i.e MATH1131 and MATH1141) which you might have to take first term. they have the same course content and don’t really scale differently but 1141 has a harder final exam. so in those cases, u decide the difficulty. i’d recommend only doing the harder ones if you are willing to have sleepless nights over basic courses, other than that, there’s no need to.

math courses are *very* difficult as they are pure math; so conceptual. it depends what math major you do, there are 3 options: advanced math, pure math, or advanced statistics. i’d say pure is the hardest.

so yes, hard course, but nothing u can’t do
Oh damn this was so helpful! I gravitated toward math-heavy degrees for the future because it’s the only thing I can see myself studying without getting fully sick of it. I also wanted to study more disciplines of math outside of like statistics, probability and financial stuff, so leaning toward pure math right now... but I haven’t done E2 maths so honestly a little worried.

don’t worry, they take you through all the extension 2 you need during 1131 and 1231, so complex, 3d vector analysis, and further integration. as long as u do the weekly mobius lessons you will be fine.

oh and WATCH YOUR LECTURES. you will fall behind very fast and not want to catch up. if you find it hard to keep up with live lectures then on moodle (you will learn what that is) there’s pre recorded lectures by this legendary man named Milan Pahor, watch those and ur sweet

Knox grammar :blink2:
genuinely most of those expensive boys grammar schools are EVIL... men need to learn how to talk to and exist around women (and also not be surrounded by out-of-touch pompous freaks) so they dont end up like that
i feel like the selective boys schools and other stuff is fine though
uh this wasn't knox btw, it's all boys meaning they can't 'rank girls in their grade' bc theres none

tbh I feel like it’s really normalised to hate on women generally.. I think boys just like asserting their so called ”masculinity” every chance they get, even in my school they act like they're a league above us literally 1 in 100 chance u meet a normal man
