    Challenging Psychometric Test Question

My understanding was that the whole point of these questions is to see how an applicant is able to make a judgement without complete information (i.e. not knowing if there's more categories than FT and PT). Ergo, these questions aren't supposed to give you a complete picture considering IRL...

Newspaper viewing in relation to prefered party

Traditionally lean towards LNP; I read SMH, The Guardian, and The Conversation.

How to make friends at uni

Keep in mind that there's loads of people in the same boat as you. The first few weeks of uni should be the easiest time to make friends.

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

I'll have a go at answering this one. a) 2024, with construction of the Metro City & Southwest starting in 2017 b) Considering a 2017 start date, this doesn't mean that construction of stations will commence during 2017. I suppose it could impact students if they are currently travelling...

So what are you guys playing at the moment?

Half-Life will always be considered the marquee series that Valve produce, so it's a very high bar to beat. Yeah, those people are wrong. The only similarity between the NFS series, and the Crew, is that they are both arcade racers. Aside from that, they have nothing to do with each other.

So what are you guys playing at the moment?

To be fair, Portal was always going to be considered an experimental title, especially with it's low price point on launch. Loads of people loved it because it was a fresh of breath air, and it deserves the praise. Not actually a NFS game. Developed and published by completely different...

What was bad about it though?

    What do employers look at?

An applicant's qualifications and/or their results are generally used as a filter during the culling process. Degrees are effectively qualifying people to apply for jobs, but not getting them jobs. Some organisations seek applicants who achieved a Credit or Distinction average (as a minimum) but...

    Explaining lack of experience

And let's be honest, if you are given an interview based on a 'lacking' resume, then evidently you still have something that the organisation is looking for. They are not going to give you an interview if they don't think you have the requisite experience to do the job. In the end, you need to...

    Is commerce/engineering a good combination?

I would second this as well. Also, Comm/Eng can be very useful if you are interested in entering consulting as the Eng. component should give you a better appreciation of specific industries, and a strong understanding on project management/feasibility studies, etc.

    Steam Summer Sale 2015

So the list of games I bought during the sale is too long to list, and even that surprised me considering the size of my library before the sale. I've been playing R6V and GRID over the past few days, and I'm really enjoying those games even though they are nearly 10 years old.

    Apple Watch / iPhone 6

I definitely remember hearing about at least one company which is offering gold-plating at a fraction of the cost of buying straight from Apple.

I assume the bands are designed to be interchangeable? Are there any third-party bands available?

    Steam Controller

It's worth noting that the Steam Controller is intended to be a complete keyboard and mouse replacement for all compatible SteamOS games, so the controller is designed around the haptic feedback trackpads. All the remaining buttons are positioned with the knowledge that these are affectively...

    Steam Summer Sale 2015

From what I've read, the AoM improvements were very lazy, and the game has aged poorly.

    Steam Summer Sale 2015

From what I hear, Cities Skylines is what the Sim City reboot should have been, but never was. For $20, it would be an absolute steal but I reckon there will be a larger price drop within the next couple of months if you're bothered waiting.

    The Superannuation Thread

Re: Confessions Definitely take advantage of co-contribution, and then leave it at that. It's not a bad strategy to put money into your super this early, provided that you have nowhere else to put it.
