highly recommend anyone aiming for good marks in maths or physics do these, best way to learn is to tackle the hardest questions!

Biology or chemistry (to drop for yr 12)

keep chemistry not biology chem is just way better (not biased)

    idk what to do??

enjoyed phys/chem a lot so went into a lot of out of syllabus depth for the content which made the hsc content much less intimidating even tho i didn’t actually spend a lot of time on it, am generally decent at maths so didn’t really need to study for it, and managed to figure out how to write...

How much of prelim chemistry and physics is tested in the hsc? Which specific prelim topics/concepts are needed to understand the content in year 12?

i am about 93% sure that maths is different and they can test specifically on year 11 content (eg perms/combs in ext1 year 11), but yeah for everything else that's correct

    idk what to do??

i think i have a longass post on this and how to study from a while ago, but i was in a similar situation (didn't study for the full month and a bit after trials because of a lack of motivation) and you'll find you remember more than you realise-- you have plenty of time (i think i started...

How much of prelim chemistry and physics is tested in the hsc? Which specific prelim topics/concepts are needed to understand the content in year 12?

from what i can remember barely any prelim-specific (thermo, waves, circuits etc) is tested in the hsc, its just assumed knowledge for yr12 syllabus content. as has been said above, its not specifically tested but all of it is assumed knowledge as part of any mod 5-8 questions (e.g. perhaps if...

    ATAR estimate pls

late reply, but no negatives, it’s an overall really positive thing to do you do have to maintain a 75+ wam i believe, which shouldn’t be too bad if you got 98+ atar in the first place, the percentiles are about the same :)

    encouragement

plus you're not competing against fellow students for a ranking so everybody is way more chill in terms of academics and helping each other out edit; ill let you study now lmao, wont induce any more procrastination, but it only goes up from the end of the hsc :)

uni is way better, so much more flexible and so many more social options

    encouragement

if its any consolation i didnt do any study for like a full month after my trials so ur doing really well lmfao
  15. T

    encouragement

past papers are king, i admire your motivation to be studying so soon after trials

    encouragement

me too! you just need to do the best you can, and as cliche as it sounds the ink you put a paper really is not defining of you as a person.

can tell you from experience that apart from the one day of ego boosting and the scholarship (if you get above 99.90) that the atar means less than nothing

    encouragement

the tag below my HSC marks wouldnt have changed whether i got 99.95 or 95.95 :)

    encouragement

u got this g -- and anyway, at the end of the day atar is just a means to an end (getting into uni) anyway, so don't stress about it too much!

    ATAR estimate pls

in my opinion, its definitely worth it as a nice addon, but i need to emphasise that its not a scholarship, it just gives you access to 1. enrichment units, different from the typical adv/ssp units and 2. the global mobility 2k scheme. the dalyell scholar stream page explains it better than i...
