    UNSW vs MQ for actuarial

As mentioned above MQ gives you a scholarship for 98+ ATAR which is pretty good. Actuarial at both unis is pretty equal and doesn't really affect your job prospects as you need to go through the same exams/pathway to become a qualified actuary anyway. MQ cohort is smaller but I also liked that...

How to get better at last few questions in 4u Maths

You gotta try analyse the solutions and improve your thought process/problem solving skills - e.g. to see what potential info in the question could've lead to the required method, what could you try think about next time, etc Also understanding the fundamentals helps a lot. People preach a lot...

Curious on what degrees BOS'ers want to take

Probably but I actually self taught web dev since actuarial doesn't really have any innovation and isn't exciting. I think that with soooo many rapid developments in tech nowadays you have to be constantly studying/keeping updated but at the same time it's exciting seeing so many developments...

    Maths in Actuarial Studies

Sounds like you'd be better off doing a maths degree because as others have said, the actuarial maths is more financial/probability and a majority of it being statistics.

how to improve study ethics? how to be motivated ig?

You don't really start with motivation, u just have to take the first step and start studying and motivation comes from that. Edit: I also had this issue a lot where I had no motivation and procrastinated a lot but just starting works, tell yourself "I'll study for 5 mins" and go from there.

    Proof Question

    Contrapositive - if p is prime, then if p|ab then p|a or p|b (Euclid's lemma) a = p1, b = p/p1 The contrapositive states that p is prime, and p1 is a prime divisor of p. That means that p1 must equal 1 or p. Case 1: p1 = 1, a = 1, b = p p|ab = p|p p|a = p|1 p|p is true So that means the...

    Preparing for HSC

I just memorised quotes and in my notes I had some analysis written down for each quote as well as a topic sentence so I had a general idea of what to write for each quote in the exam, but I didn't specifically memorise the analysis. Also did 0 past papers for English since I believe that...

    92 3U HSC Q6c)ii): Binomial Question⌄

    So when you integrated you need the +C, so you have: x + (1/2)(nC1)x^2 + ... = (1+x)^(n+1)/(n+1) + C Sub in x = 0 C = -1/(n+1) I'm not sure if you can divide both sides by x as x could be 0, but you could multiply both sides by x: x^2 + (1/2)(nC1)x^3 + ... = x/(n+1) (1+x)^(n+1) - x/(n+1) =...

    Internships for Computer Science?

If anything u can just do comp sci at usyd/uts with a lower ATAR it doesn't really matter. It's one of those degrees where if you build your own projects and have a nice portfolio it separates you really well since most candidate portfolios are probably just the uni projects.

for those who got 99+ what did your study pattern look like

I just did homework every night cos we got spammed with it and I barely got sleep due to procrastinating while doing the homework, then cram for every exam/trial cos I had no time due to too much homework. But for HSC I studied a couple of months in advance because our school finished all...

    actuarial

Just gonna make it clear that you can actually become an actuary without doing the degree in uni by doing the 3 parts with the actuaries institute. The first 3 years of the degree has certain subjects where if you get a certain threshold, you can apply to become exempt from doing the relevant...

    M.I Question

Not sure how to do it by induction honestly but seems like they used a triangle as an example (which I feel like doesn't cover all polygons...) Interior angle + exterior angle = 180 Sum of interior angles is (n-2)*180 (idk if this is a high school formula or I got it from uni??) so one interior...

    Need help

Go HSCNinja atar calc and type your school in to estimate how many band 6's they get in certain subjects usually. This way you can estimate what rank you need to be generally to get a band 6. E.g. my old school would get around 30-35 band 6's in advanced maths so I would aim for a minimum of top...

is it worth to pay for a remark?

Yeah $20 is pretty worth it if you believe you should've done better. They don't remark your paper, just count up your marks again. From a google search it says you can't get a lower mark but who knows...
