    Same sex marriages

For, because I simply don't give a shit if two consenting adults get married, whether gay or straight. It doesn't affect my life and it doesn't adversely affect anyone else's, then it shouldn't be a problem. It's really that simple.

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

I got 80% for an environmental ethics essay...LOL.

Does USYD grade on a curve?

It depends on the faculty, most don't grade on a curve/scale. Science doesn't either, including advanced.

Need help with uses of polyethylene and their properties

I wouldn't agree with this because there's a reason why you don't put metal in microwaves.

    Ozone Depletion

I would imagine it would happen within a matter of days because of how the atmosphere works, 50 years refers to how long it stays in the atmosphere - the atmospheric lifetime of the CFCs can range from something like a few years to many decades.

    Help with PH Question

Why we assuming the acid is monoprotic? Carbonic acid is the main acid responsible for the lowered pH of rainwater. Anyway, you can't determine the pH before just from titration. Take for example, 1 M HCl vs 1 M citric acid, you would need 3x more citric acid to titrate but the pH would...

Determining CO2 in soft drinks by titration

This, you could add a small amount of acid to speed it up (obviously, measure the mass of acid).

    Titration

Accuracy: how close was it to the ACTUAL value? Reliability: did you repeat the experiment and get consistent results? Validity: was the experimental method logically sound? (eg you can't do titration using conical flasks and measuring cylinders)

It's probably on the water purification process used. This is a part of CM&M.

How to write a kick-ass scientific report?

The way HSC writes reports and actual scientists is completely different and when I say that, it's probably closer to an understatement. You'll have to do it high school style which your teacher should have outlined.

What's up with Western restaurants chains serving me halal meat??

lol I know some Muslim people that are like, I don't care if it's Halal or not, it doesn't matter if they say a few words to a piece of meat...

the 2 aussies getting execuated in Indonesia

I think the capital punishment is stupid and it seems like it's more a result of an emotional response than an objective one in the sense that it feels natural to reach for the top shelf when punishing for any serious crime. I don't even agree with the life sentence (except murder, rape and a...

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

re: HSC Physics Marathon Archive lol, no - you don't have apparent weight in space. The question is worded really badly thought - it could mean "which one is the best description for weightlessness" in which A and D both qualify as weightlessness. If you are accelerating at the rate of all...

    Question

    That's just wrong...LOL.

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

re: HSC Physics Marathon Archive I would argue that A and D are both correct.

    HSC 2012-2015 Chemistry Marathon (archive)

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive If you pump more argon into the system (or any gas that doesn't react with anything in the vessel) while keeping volume constant, equilibrium doesn't change. If you pump argon into the system and the system expands as a result, then the equilibrium will...
