Congrats :) You have a pretty good shot at it i'd say, even if you achieve only their minimum atar (95) for law.

    scaling

I didn't do the subject in year 12, but from what i've heard it scales a bit, if you do bad, will drag you down but is okay in scaling if you do well. This is due to the perception that it's easy to get high raw marks in the sub, but im not sure. However i know that since you want an 85 atar...

    scaling

your best scaling sub is chem, and worst scaling sub is earth environmental sci. All your subs generally scale well (in your favour depending how well you do), just do a bit better in eng and E&E sci as those are your worst scaling

Need help understanding the UMAT Scoring.

Remember only 20% of selection is on umat, therefore on top you’ll need a cracker atar for Adelaide to get interviews (in which is weighed 40%, so 80% based off atar + interview). Anyway recent years, the overall umat percentile for interview selection was around 86 to have a decent shot there.

    Preliminary Counts to Towards HSC?

If they’re talking about content wise then yeah sure it does, but if they mean marks/ranks wise, they’re a filthy liar.

Creative writing: prepare one or wing it

Those are usually one off sorta things, it’s extremely difficult to make up a band 6 creative writing on the spot in the time limit given, especially under pressure (exam conditions) You’re better off trying to perfect this 17/20 creative you’ve received and use it throughout your hsc year...

Undergrad med at Adelaide Uni and others?

lol it depends on the uni how much each is weighted. But if we're talking about adelaide here, its 40% atar & interview and 20% umat.

When are you deciding on which University?

Is it possible to accelerate 3u and 4u in year 11?..

Undergrad med at Adelaide Uni and others?

Check out for admission stats at Adelaide: https://www.adelaide.edu.au/news/news16821.html If you’re from the GWS region, uws med is 93.55 so that makes it easier opposed to the standard 95.55 for their minimum admission, and also lower umat. But still not a guarantee as you can see how...

    Roll Call: Class of 2018

You should really drop a subject imo to reduce the burden

year 10 screwed for prelim subject selection

The thing is you can be worried about not having scientific knowledge by dropping bio if you get into the course, but if you keep it (when you're not strong at it) there's a greater chance you won't even get into med in the first place, let alone not have the science background if you get in...

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

Just want to wish you all good luck for your assessments coming up for year 12. If you don't do as well as you could have, you still have time to pick up your game. I have friends who have gotten 40% in an assessment and still end up with 95+ atar. Keep your focus on your ultimate goal and it...

Is UWS a good uni for nursing students??

Which uni you go to and it's reputation doesn't necessarily matter for nursing, I have a few relatives whom are nursing graduates from worse unis now working in top hospitals in Sydney. (Healthcare professions always in demand) so I wouldn't really be hesitant. UWS has heaps of nursing...

    Roll Call: Class of 2018

Why not law elsewhere? Just because of the uni, it shouldn't stop you from pursuing your preferred course

Accept early offer? or wait for January Round?

Well yeah there is that chance lost if you could not get an offer in the first Dec main rounds for that reason. But honestly anything can happen, sometimes they won’t have enough people, so then accept you, or someone who’s received an offer from them earlier may have cancelled it or their offer...

Missing School (1 term of HSC course)

In terms of how it will affect you, I assume you’re going to have to put in extra work and catch up during the rest of the terms when you do get back opposed to the rest of your peers who will be ahead and have already learnt the first term content. Double the work for you then, but when you do...

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

Really depends on the person. Know the concepts, examples, practicals well. Since it's a note based sub, a lot is memorising. You obviously do this by summarising notes (each syllabus dot point) in your own words by how you understand it. For each dot point write down things you know about that...
