    A call from Baulkham Hills

It's probably the interview, where they basically just ask you what extracurriculars you do and then they talk about the importance of work/life balance and having hobbies etc and they give you the paperwork, but basically you got in! And I don't think the transition would be too hard, except...

Is two discovery creative pieces wise ?

Agreed, I think it is better to prepare another one just in case. Even if it's not as good, it is better than going with the most generic plot that you might come up with on the day because your prepared creative is not adaptable. Think about it this way, if you prepare 2, you have a higher...

Best tutoring college for Year 7

Matrix is good for sciences later on in senior years, but extremely expensive. Sigma science is great, not sure if they have junior classes. Delta English is quite good. Matrix maths is not the best, I would recommend Kurt or Ngo.

    Need help choosing final elective

Go with whichever you are more confident/fluent or have more interest in because you will be more motivated into practicing haha. Personally, I'm a bigger fan of Twilight, but both are very nice.

    Urgent Advice please: Medicine

UNSW Med Science, top 10 get into med but insanely competitive. USyd any course, do relatively well + GAMSAT and do the doctorate of medicine. That's what I have heard, so if anyone can confirm that, that would be good. I guess your best options right now are physiotherapy, radiology...

    New syllabus textbooks???

I heard Pearson was the best for Chemistry, most schools use it too. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of MIF and my school doesn't use it for 3 unit maths either, we use Cambridge and I think Cambridge is better for maths.

    Baulko and Girraween applicants 2018

Not sure, but Baulkham Hills sends out a phone call asking for an interview. Last year that came around early/ mid-September asking if you would be interested in attending an interview, that interview basically means you made it in. Not sure about Girraween, but calling for the interview is the...

    failed selective test

Yes, my friend went from a local school to a partially selective school in Year 7! I also moved schools later to a top selective school. I know people who have moved from a non selective school to James Ruse, so it's fine!

    Girraween High school entry exam

That year, 26 students got in (20 for new class in year 11, 5 to Baulko and 1 to Ruse). From memory these are the numbers of people (for the numbers that people were accepted for the next year): Year 7 ~5 Year 8 ~12 (Baulko opens new class) Year 9 ~7 Year 10~ 26 Year 11 entries are close...

    Extension Science 2019

Lmao I go to a selective school and I know quite a few selective schools are not running it simply because too many people would take it. But from what I asked from my head teacher, he said that it would involve working closely with a teacher to work on your project, but also the school hiring a...

Just studying half the modern syllabus points?

Study the dot points you know that will definitely be in the exam, and read over the ones you know that are not. Don't completely ignore them, make sure you have a decently good understanding of the events (and maybe like a few key dates/ important facts and figures) but don't bother writing or...

    Can't pay school fees

It's not compulsory to pay your school fees, a lot of people don't. Due to your financial sitaution I think it's fine if you don't pay it.

    Chemistry yr11 prelim resources (urgent)

Why not make your own notes? Use the syllabus + school student indicators for the sciences to write your own notes, it will help you learn and remember it better than other notes. Past papers are still good to look through just to get an idea of the question formats and how to answer questions.

School stuff-up forces all students to resit chemistry paper

Haha yeah it was pretty funny. One of the teachers basically copied a past paper but a tutoring center (ahem Ace) prepared materials based on that exact practical (obviously not expecting the same prac to be used in the test) as an example tutorial since one of the teachers was a former student...

    New Syllabus?! (Year 11)

Hate it. I hate the restriction of tests (it means we get less practice completing questions under exam conditions), no past papers or old notes and I don't like the changes anyways.
