    Studying with/without music?

I think studying with music can help to a certain extent, but closer to exam period, you need to try to do past exam papers under time limit with no music on. There is actual psychological studies that show that you perform the best in exams if you try to replicate exam conditions as closely as...

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

I will leave the comforting and encouraging words to the others that have already replied. Here is my suggested plan of attack 1. Find out how many people got band 5/6s in your school for each subject last year-either through google or asking your teachers-however, your school's annual report...

    Discover Discovery – a guide from a 99+ student

Firstly, I would advise you to start preparing for assessment tasks earlier than 3 days before it is actually due. Secondly, choosing texts that you are confident of talking about is important, I feel like you have chosen the related text before you are confident you can analyse it. Thirdly...

Unanswered Questions that have been bugging me

How much effect does the school you go to have on your atar? Not much, I personally went to a rank 150 school and got 99.20. It really depends on how much motivation and effort you put in year 12. How do you keep youself motivated through year 12? I am having a hard time keeping focus...

    HSC: All three commerce subjects

I personally haven't done any of these subjects, but I think one way you can manage is to cycle through these subjects-whether it be doing homework/past papers/assessment tasks so you don't get overwhelmed by one subject at any one time. I think another way is to consider being strategic-i.e...

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

This was my biggest problem in my senior years. I was exactly in your position. I think the best advice I can give you is to write less words on one line, I think often illegible handwriting may come from a desire to not waste space and squash everything together, if you space your...

    Advanced english question!

I think unless you are already very good at English, you should not try to use fancy and complex words particularly if you don't even know what these words mean and you are trying to pluck them out of a synonym. I think that is not authentic writing, but rather pretentious writing, and from my...

    Please Help Me!

I think what the above people have said are very good advice, here is my two cents-from the perspective of a fourth year uni student who didn't get 99.60. 1.I understand how you feel. Not because I have felt this way in high school, but because I have felt this way in uni. I have had times...

    Taking notes

To be honest, I don't think perfect notes can be achieved in one go, and I think smart note taking on first go is only a natural instinct for a limited amount of people. It might just be much easier to start with one set of notes first, before making it better in the next-and condensing it that way.

    2017 LAT Results

As a current four year law student at UNSW, I have personally seen quite a lot of people in my cohort who transferred from another degree to be in combined law. So LAT by no means will define your chances of being in law in uni. And if you are going to give up on law because of a bad LAT result...

    Discovery Essay on Rainbows End

What help do you need? As in you don't understand the question, or you don't understand the text? This question is actually pretty simple because it is so broad, discoveries can be far-reaching-just means discoveries can have a wide impact in terms of either the amount of people it can effect...

    Extracurricular Activities

It wasn't really hard, I did the required number of hours for silver and got the award, I think it was around 40 hours (Knitted beanies for a refuge). I also did the Premier's Reading Challenge, but that was when I was in year 7. Also participated in the Chinese Estifeord (can't remember the...

    Extracurricular Activities

I did public speaking in my junior years, represented my school in various competitions, did Premier Volunteering Challenge, public speaking I really enjoy because it helped me to be a lot more confident with how I express myself and present myself.

    Extracurricular Activities

I personally didn't really do any extracurricular activities in senior years because I wanted to focus on my studies. I would say extracurricular activities are not super important unless you are aiming to apply for a scholarship in uni or even during high school. But remember to not take on too...

    Melbourne JD vs UNSW JD

I don't know about job prospects cause I haven't graduated myself and I am not a JD. I would say that job prospects from either uni is going to be good, but this is really dependent on what you do with your time at uni, for example, participate in extra-curriculars/leadership positions, get a...

    Melbourne JD vs UNSW JD

I study undergraduate law at UNSW, and am currently a fourth year. I can't speak about university of Melbourne, but UNSW basically runs law courses in small classes, there's a 80% attendance requirement in each course, otherwise without legitimate reasons for being away for more than 20% (and...
