q’s for those who got a 95+ atar

    1. How many hours daily did you study/complete homework (school days and weekends)? I don't advise this many hours, but I did around 5 hours after school, and during weekend around 10-12 hours, but bear in mind I had a major work to complete for visual arts so sometimes in holidays I would just...

    UNSW chit chat thread

Re: UNSW chit chat thread 2017 I don't think extending your degree will necessarily ensure you will get your 90+ average, also the final exams are not even here yet, so you still have the chance to improve your marks beyond 75. Also why do you want to get into IB/MBB? (I think you can consider...

“The Band 6 HSC Creative Writing Formula”- LIMITED-TIME PROMOTIONAL DISCOUNT!!!

Wow $79 dollars for a 14 page booklet is very very expensive for the average student, particularly as the student would still need to think of the idea themselves and write the creative themselves, whilst I congratulate you on the many copies and the students you have helped so far, I personally...

    Textbooks for year 12

Technically more like you shouldn't need a textbook for English, because in English you will get worksheets provided by the teacher and that will give you sufficient background to the text you are studying usually, you will find that in no textbook will the analysis be good enough to help you...

Subject Selection Music 2 or English Ext

I think you should probably drop 3 unit music to 2 unit music and have 12 units for year 11, and decide what you want to do in year 12-whether to drop any further units

    Textbooks for year 12

You shouldn't really be buying a textbook for English subjects..

Comparitive essay, the shark net (novel), and i'm not scared (film)?

How about you have a go constructing some arguments first and we can help you assess the strength of your thesis, there is no point in us giving you all the answers because you won't get all the answers in the exam and learning to critical think is one of the most important things in English.

How to improve my essay writing from a Band 5 to Band 6

I would strongly advise you to get someone to detailedly mark one of your essay and you can get some substantial feedback on how to improve on your expression/flow of ideas which you can apply to your future essays

    UNSW chit chat thread

Re: UNSW chit chat thread 2017 If you think you will really enjoy engineering then go for it, I think it will give you more time to think about your career options and also get more work experience, but if you know your heart is set on commerce then don't waste time, but I think it is hard...

Advice for Applying to St. Mary's Senior High School?

Don't quote me on this but I don't think they have a uniform policy, i.e. you can wear whatever you want...

Commute from Newcastle (Kotara) to UNSW

I highly recommend you trying to live closer to uni and getting a part time job, it actually will help you tremendously for your career prospects, you will soon find that having a distinction average in your degree and no other work experience is not going to help you much in the real world, but...

Am I Kidding Myself By Doing These Subjects?

I have heard of people doing well with 14 units, I think ultimately it comes down to time management-if you can manage your time well and you enjoy all your subjects-you can handle it.

    Drop VA or Japanese continuers

I have done VA for year 12-seems like ages ago haha, but I think I didn't had to work on my major project every lunch time or in fact a single lunch time at all. At the end of the day it is about time management and although art is one of those subjects that may seem endless in the sense you are...

Is it just a number? or is that just a lie?

Hey there, First don't be too hard on yourself. I think you probably need to take a day or two to just relax/do something you like and keep things in perspective. I had a really critical Dad like your Dad too, he would be the type of guy who wanted to know whether anyone else was ranked first...

Is chemical engineering a good idea in Australia?

From what I know, there isn't a lot of chemical engineering opportunities in Australia per se unless the said friend is willing to go overseas.

    Medicine or Psychology? Help

Just a heads up though, if you do choose to do psychology in uni, you will still need to do statistics courses-which is a lot of maths, so if you don't do any maths now, you will find yourself disadvantaged later on and need to be prepared to do quite a bit of catch up to do well in those courses.

Tonight should i cram an all nighter for trials?

Don't think you should do an allnighter, you will be so tired your brain will not work very quickly in the actual exam. You should sleep early and wake up early to revise-it is much more efficient.

    Inquire help

Yes, it is possible for them to sue you since they owe intellectual property rights to any materials they create/produce and people selling their materials is a breach of their consent for reproduction-it is a bit like pirated movies (but this time, for low amount of price). So yes, refrain...

Directly Messaging Unis While in Late Year 11

I don't think it will help your chances, because the whole UMAT and interview process is already designed to make you seem eager to be a doctor, it is proven by experience and interests, rather than necessary early contact, and they won't be able to help you with much this early. In terms of...
