    Why do we study English?

I'll give my 2 cents (or is it pence?) worth on this topic. I strongly believe that English (literature) helps enrich the mind. However, HSC English stops the original purpose of self-expression emphasised in english. The overriding concern for marks and the belief of the binary right vs. wrong...

Urgent help required regarding number of units selection

Hey there :) You are allowed to take 13 units. Since most likely religion is compulsory at your school (as it is in many Catholic/ Religion based Schools), you have no choice but to do 13. BOSTES does not require anyone to take 13 units (the minimum is 12) however you are allowed to go beyond...

I guess both are love (to an extent)? The desire and how the said love materialises is very different! As per obvious from EBB's poetry, she actually tempered her feelings and carefully thought about WHY she loved Robert Browning. But at the same time, Gatsby seemed to be so intensely in love...

What I'm picking up from your assessment task is probably something to do specific readings of Hamlet (e.g Feminist, Political, etc) and probably centre it around relevant schools of thought today?

What is Module C, Representing People and Politics asking us to do?

Hello! Module C is a unique module, it tackles about representation and text. The elective you're doing deals with People and Politics. The basic questions you have to ask about the module are: 1. How are people and politics represented in the text? 2. Are these representations showing...

    What are you currently Reading?

Both are great books! It depends on what your reading preferences are-- I would prefer Gatsby over 1984.

    What are you currently Reading?

Best book! I based my Major Work on EX2 majorly on the context and general mood of Catcher in the Rye!

I really like EBB and Gatsby! Although at first I thought the links were quite tenuous, I do see now how the Board has been very smart in choosing these texts!

    2015ers Chit-Chat Thread

Bored of Studies confuses me sometimes because they think I am not being serious when I am genuinely writing what I feel. (asking me if I'm serious or sarcastic) Although quite a dense text, I can see Hamlet as a perfect example of how prominent issues within the human condition can still...

I came home from the TSFX lectures today... so tired TT--TT I sat for 2 hours listening to Hamlet's textual integrity and how it's ambiguity has allowed it to transcend time... Overall, still a fun day! ^__^
