    Logic Puzzle!

Contributing my own logic puzzle: I have a deck of 20 numbered cards in my hand numbered 1..20. The deck is turned face down so you can't see the numbering on any of the cards, and you don't know what order they're in. I repeat the following steps 20 times in a row: 1. I take the top card off...

    Logic Puzzle!

In the first round A[lbert] doesn't know, so he can't have n=1, k=1, r=0 (otherwise he'd know that he has the minimum possible value and thus that B[ernard] must have a larger value). B then doesn't know, which means that B also doesn't have n=1, k=1, r=0 and he ALSO doesn't have n=1, k=1, r=1...

    Startups in Sydney?

I did work experience there and stayed. They're in the educational technology sector, which incidentally is undergoing massive growth at the moment and is a great space for startups. Just look at Udacity, Coursera, Knewton, edX, Khan Academy, and co. These companies are raising bucketloads of...

    Startups in Sydney?

I worked at a startup in Sydney for a few years during high school and the start of uni. I was employee #4 or #5 and the company went up in value from around $100k when I joined to tens of millions by the time I left. That was great fun. They've recently moved to San Francisco where the real...

    Startups in Sydney?

Depends on the startup's goal. Off the top of my head: Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong. What's your startup idea?

    ASAP Integration

Ah yes, A$AP Integration, the newest member of the A$AP Mob.

    Startups in Sydney?

It's not bad, but it's not great either. From what I've heard, funding is hard to come by. All the founders whom I know are branching out into Asia and the US. There is a startup scene though.

    Maths in Software Engineering

SE and CS will probably both require you to do about 4 maths courses, more if you want. Discrete maths is the most important for both degrees. 4u maths is recommended if you want a head start.

Master of IT (data analytic) USYD vs UTS

Probably, but the degree will be worth less when it comes to further academic studies or finding a job.

Master of IT (data analytic) USYD vs UTS

USyd's course will be more rigorous and reputable.

Discrete maths in first semester or second semester

Discrete is easier if you're good at maths. In a sense, it's more pure. MATH11x1 is easier if you're good at memorising techniques.

comp science at unsw or usyd

That mostly shows that more USyd graduates go into postgraduate studies than UNSW students. The actual disparity between the number of employed or studying people between the two unis is small. Median graduate salary can be explained the same way. Also, it's unclear whether the table refers to...

comp science at unsw or usyd

UNSW and USyd both have fantastic CS departments. UNSW may be a teeny bit better. Don't make your decision based on the programme, choose the university that suits you best.

    Information Technology/ Computing Degrees 2015

Bullshit. Every full-time Google engineer who has the necessary qualifications to get a work visa to the US gets an offer to work in Mountain View in addition to their other offers (at least in theory). So every engineering employee who can get a work visa to the US gets a chance to work in the...

    Continued fraction for e

    Incomplete but I think it gets you to the solution if you actually work out the steps. \sum_{k=0}^\infty \frac{1}{k!} is a well-known formula for e. Also, \frac{1}{a_1} + \frac{1}{a_1a_2} + \dots + \frac{1}{a_1a_2...a_n} = \frac{1+\frac{\frac{1+\frac{1}{a_n}}{\vdots}}{a_2}}{a_1} From...

Couple of questions about BSci (Computer Science)

If you're gonna learn Python, reddit.com/r/learnpython is better than /r/learnprogramming. They will give you more specific advice. Learning programming before starting uni isn't always a good idea, because you'll pick up bad habits on your own that will take a while to correct at uni.
