    2015ers Chit-Chat Thread

You must be high if you think it's that easy to get into NASA. Just being 'good' at maths won't cut it. Even if it's the most critical subject you've learned in our very, very sheltered secondary schooling. o.O But rather, if you're as good as you say, then why didn't you apply to go overseas...

    Best Economics Textbook

My school uses Riley, but honestly like Dixon better because it's not just the detail that Riley goes into (honestly I like to cover my bases, so I like it when Riley does this) but the way he structures his information is pretty confusing. Particularly if it's a concept you haven't learnt...

(Just Some Notes On My Mark Goals)

The way you accent certain words remind me of the Geromino Stilton books (I loved them as a child ahaha) x) Good luck TQ - I hope you surpass your ATAR goal.

What happens if you forget to put your student number on one of the booklets and it has your conclusion for your English Ext 1 essay >> I think I put the number of booklets used though...

    Was there a syllabus change?

Thanks Phota :) Anything on trends? Haha (or is there just a trend towards easier papers)

How badly can 1/10 units affect your overall ATAR?

Are you expecting a Band 5 or 4 in it? If it's really worrying you, check up your school report and find out how many people get B4/5/6 respectively each year in each subject and find out where you currently stand. Then just guesstimate using ATAR calculators and you should get an approximate...

    Was there a syllabus change?

Hey guys, Does anyone know if there was a syllabus change for MX1 during the early - mid 2000s? Any long-term trends? Also, how often does greater term/ coefficient pop up? Someone mentioned to me that they never put it in.. Thanks guys! And sorry for all the questions ahahahaha ( i'll be...

How do you prove something is tangetnt to something else?

Which two equations? For some reason I got BT : y = 2x and when that equates with parabola, discriminant =4. But good methodology TY TY TY :) :)

How do you prove something is tangetnt to something else?

What you assume is correct. It's also what Crisium is saying. And gosh AHAHAHAHA forgot about the coefficient there. fanks :)

How do you prove something is tangetnt to something else?

LOL there's one more : How do you find max value of f(x) in Q9 bii? I know how to read the graph for x values, but not exactly sure how to for y values. The f(0)= 0 is probably there to help with the integration constant but there's no equation so I'm a bit stuck. Q: http://imgur.com/z0iYTel...

How do you prove something is tangetnt to something else?

And in Q8b.) (lols soz for all the qs guys.) Question: http://imgur.com/tqKRSCe Answers: http://imgur.com/Q86nRgC I get that for f(x) to be increasing, f'(x) >0, but why did they jump to the discriminant being less than 0? How do they know it's not a concave down curve? TY :) Also how...

How do you prove something is tangetnt to something else?

Also in Q 8a.) http://imgur.com/2lqcSbP But the answer quotes the formula P = Ae^(kt) http://imgur.com/b4B0CHO Are you allowed to do that? And if you're not, how do you get rid of the C when integrating? \frac{dP}{dt} =kP \\int{ \frac{dP}{P}}= \int{kdt} \\ kt+ c = ln(P) Then stuck. lol
