Johnstan you willing to pay for M.G's Chem HSC paper photocopy? From the exam day? Like since he SR'ed, we could have an idea of how to answer questions perfectly etc. Cost is $47.50 but other people are paying so cost should be split.

What do you want to do at University?

Re: University. Just remember that USyd considers your ATAR + WAM for transfer into Law etc. UNSW only considers WAM. Like I'll probs, despite working my hardest, scrape 98-99 so won't apply for USyd + not interested in USyd.

What do you want to do at University?

Re: University. Comm (Fins major) /Eco (not sure what major) @ UNSW. MAY transfer to Comm/Law @ UNSW 2nd year. Depends on WAM, interest etc. Don't want USyd law since Comm would be the focal part of my degree anyway (future career choices etc.) and I'd prefer UNSW Comm. And not planning to...

Re: Best Econmoics textbook Make a poll you gook. But I'd say Dixon for 75% of the time. Riley + Bulmer for 15-20%. Newspapers + Independent Research for 5-10%.

    The Problem with Rote Learning

Nah, if the exam's extended to 3 hours --> 1 hour per essay.

    The Problem with Rote Learning

Yes, but even now, the better English students have contingency plans - preparing a few quotes and techniques for each other speech along with your prepared essay, so there's no way the BOS can get around that. And I believe that creative writing should DEFINITELY be open to rote learning.

    The Problem with Rote Learning

People will still rote learn essays, just better and longer ones lol. Your average prepared essay will be 1500 words rather than 1000.

Oi ya fkn trash I'll help you out later if you want you can close the thread. But in short, there's 2 papers. One is 45 marks. Other 60 marks. The 2 hour long 45 mark paper is based on concept of belonging and has a 15 mark short answer/unseen text section, a 15 mark stimulus based creative...

    The Problem with Rote Learning

Yeah fair enough, but it's what you believe, not the Board of Studies haha. For me, I don't care what they do after 2013 lol.

    The Problem with Rote Learning

I think that having that in university is enough right? Where there's complete independence in terms of course choice etc. E.g. how many 99+ers do you see doing humanities, and how many do you see doing 4U maths, physics, chemistry? This isn't simply because the 4u maths, phys, chem students...
  20. theind1996

    The Problem with Rote Learning

That's why it's a culture of doing Phys/Chem despite not necessarily being all that natural in them, and working your arse off and doing well e.g. a state ranker last year mainly regurgitated the textbook so hey, it works.
