    yes im stupid

You can use past papers from old syllabus, however, you need to be able to work out which questions are still relevant and which aren't, which requires a decent knowledge of the content already. Most of the new syllabus subjects have a lot of exam papers available now as it's been 3 years since...

do you guys use correction tape?

In the HSC you won't have as much exam time to waste on whiting things out. A lot of the exams you might feel pressed for time particularly subjects such as english where a large amount of writing is needed. In maths speed depends on ability, but whiting it out means lets say for example you...

do you guys use correction tape?

You're in younger years in high school at the moment, it's a good idea not to get into the habit of using it. It costs quite a bit of money and doesn't last very long if you use it constantly. It's better to just cross out that part or scribble it out. Aside from the time that it wastes in an...

should i give up my atar goal?

Depends where you are applying. Some unis have higher ATAR requirements such as UNSW, USYD and others have lower for example WSU is around 95.

should i give up my atar goal?

I don't mean to sound harsh, but speaking honestly getting into med directly with those marks is highly unlikely, because you don't have the marks that would be required to get a 95+ ATAR. You need to be getting mostly band 6s and band 5s to get that that type of ATAR. In saying this, you...

    Legible or not?

One way to make it easier to read is write bigger. The letters in your words are hard to read because they are crammed next to one another, so end up blending and it can be hard to work out what letter it is. If you write bigger they will naturally be more spaced and easier to work out what...

Am I screwed with Standard English?

It does have some effect but unless you are trying to get like extremely high atars (like 99+) doing standard is not going to make your ATAR plummet heaps and lead to you not being able to achieve a good ATAR. Lots of people do standard English and get 90+ atars. Even some people do all low...

    99.95 without extension 2 maths

Sadly not I had the mark for the state rank but didn't get it, so narrowly missed out. Still burnt by that haha cause I ended up seeing on someone else tutoring post later they got like 13th in state with 97 in that same hsc year

    99.95 without extension 2 maths

For HSC final marks I got somewhere around this (can't remember exactly because been like 5 years but they shouldn't be off by more than 1-2): Adv English - 97 Adv Maths - 98 Ext 1 Maths - 48 (this is out of 50 as I only did it 1 unit and didn't do ext 2 where then it would be 96/100) Physics -...

    99.95 without extension 2 maths

99.95 is possible without that ext 2 maths. My subject were adv math, ext 1 math, eng adv, chemistry, physics and business studies. I was on track for a 99.95 based on the trials and other performance throughout the year but messed up a bit in the HSC probably due to pressure of the scenario but...

    chem tutor

Yeah in organic chemistry. Also, yeah you have to apply for a scholarship either funded directly by the uni or awarded through the uni but funded by government

    chem tutor

Thanks for the mention and compliment. Next year probably not going to be tutoring other than my current students who are going from Year 11 to 12, as I'm starting my PhD at uni next year so probably going to busy with that

Anyone keep thinking about stuffing up in the HSC and being screwed?

It's normal to feel nervous or stressed about doing exams, especially something like the HSC where it's the culmination of all the years of schooling. Even at the time I had good ranks and marks and was still very stressed. It's hard to do and a lot of people will say it to you but you need to...

    Atar Estimation please

I would say low 90 at the moment. But this is kind of dependent on performing highly in those subjects in HSC as well, because at the moment your english mark may bring you down. Try to improve your marks there and you should be able to get your goal
  15. jazz519

How high does your standard maths mark have to be to state rank?

State ranks in maths subjects often require you to get 99 or 100 in the exam

BOS app -- is this a thing? should this be a thing?

There is no app but this has been suggested in the past. I think the main reason against it is that the current format for the forum already works well on the phone, so the purpose of the app is already fulfilled by this

can you chill once you get accepted into a course

Oh, that's a different kind of question then, which is more about what is the benefit or cons of doing double degree. I didn't personally do a double degree so can't really say how it would be like

can you chill once you get accepted into a course

I personally haven't. But I don't think you can do two honours for different degrees at the same time, because it's basically like doing a full time job in terms of the time requirements. So if you were doing something like that you would be probably doing them in separate years or only doing...

can you chill once you get accepted into a course

Double degree is different to what honours is. A double degree is where you do two degrees from different areas. Honours is an extra year on a degree where you do some project and produce a thesis. These projects vary depending on the type of subject area you are doing, in sciences like bio...

can you chill once you get accepted into a course

The main reason the marks are important for applying for postgrad e.g. PhD, is that basically everyone doing it requires a scholarship which means high marks are needed to prove that you are of a certain level and as there would be a limited number of scholarships they can give out, so they have...
