its a lot easier if you do it this way \frac{x^{3}-2x^{2}+1}{x^{2}}=\frac{x^{3}}{x^{2}}-\frac{2x^{2}}{x^{2}}+\frac{1}{x^{2}}=x-2+\frac{1}{x^{2}}
