    Afs jenseys 2011

They ask you how long you been studying Japanese. I knew people who studied it in primary school and they got into my group, Explore Nippon & Nihongo, and they forgotten all their Japanese in the time they last studied it years ago and when they went on it. That was flawed, few times they test...

From standard to advanced (english) ??

Not me, people who are international students from China at my school did that. Few are quite capable to do Advance but chose that they couldn't do it in the long run.

From standard to advanced (english) ??

Not now anyway, but earlier on I knew people who moved up to Advance from Standard and also people move down from Advance to Standard, as well as ESL people in the past going down from Advance to Standard to ESL.

Went today, and it was pretty good. Module A (Distinctive Voices) was by the far best lecture of the three I attended today, the teacher was brilliant, confident and actually really, really helpful. Second session, Close Study of Text was shit. At start she tried to cover all the texts (there...

"Student challenges ruling on her HSC"

Re: Not happy with 99.95 ATAR! What an idiot. I think anyone and everyone should be content with the ATAR/UAI they got.

Even though I spent $105 on English Standard sessions (would of been $220 if I chose all the Belonging crap) and I bloody hope the notes and the sessions are worth the money and time, I have to catch about 6:13am train to get there.

    Bonus points?

You can. When I was in year 7 and my sister was in year 12, our dad passed away with an unexpected heart attack and she got extra 5 points for her ATAR.

    TSFX Revision Lectures

Heard the English provides good notes (I assume the booklets that aphorae was talking about) and maths and biology was decent. Going to the moduals for English Standard because I felt rushed with them during English classes because of x, y & z reasons.

Failing so hard, should i repeat or continue since trials are still left?

Just say you want to go and repeat Year 12, you can redo the subjects that you did utter shit in and KNOW you can do better after the HSC. That's one option.

Scholarship to go on exchange during holidays?

The interviews were straight forward for JENESYS, so they asked what type of person does your family and friends think, what type of person do you think you are, have you experience anything major in your life etc. They took a range of people, all of whom have an obvious interest in Japan. But...

Scholarship to go on exchange during holidays?

But all seriousness, do it, it won't hurt. I went on JENESYS last year missed out on a week of school at the end of the year to go on it, and my listening and speaking skills have improved. You would gain an experience that you won't have anywhere else and it'll improve on your Japanese.

Scholarship to go on exchange during holidays?

I am applying, even though my chance is more lowered than others because I went on JENESYS.
  15. P

What will you do after HSC finishes?

-Go to Japan for my Schoolies -Sleep -Read all the books that I need to read in the past but because of a thing called the HSC, I can't -Pick up skateboarding STRAIGHT AFTER THE EXAM -Catch a train to the city and just party the night away

    Trials + Other Assessments

Trials for me - Week One (Wednesday & Friday) to Week Four (Monday).
  17. P

When do you start studying for trials?

Apparently, 6 weeks before any exam (e.g half yearly, trials, HSC) is ideal, so as such getting into the rhythm of studying.

    Bias Teachers?!?!?!

I know teachers can be bias, some more obvious than others or some are bias and others aren't. For example, Art, I do what the teacher has told me to do, then get a crappy mark because "I did it wrong and this is not what she was asking me to do".

Matrix HSC Trial Exam Prep Courses worth the money?

The amount of money is still a problem with me.

Matrix HSC Trial Exam Prep Courses worth the money?

My friends did Matrix during the 2011/2012 summer holidays and they said apart from being really boring lectures, they give you good notes etc from it. About two or three who went who were in my English standard class, are topping it. I am thinking of going but it costs $180 or so for all the...
