Also: I went to 0-week today. And there were so many stores and stuff going around. But I don't know what it'll be like on Thursday or Friday

Just a question: My qualifying major is Modern History, and my secondary major is International Relations- could an IR unit count as my People unit? "What are the requirements for those undertaking a single degree with double major? The requirements for People and Planet units are that both...

    How to UNI prep

You're welcome! I second having the right citations and referencing right- depending on your course, there may be a week devoted to writing essays. And lots of people experience a 'uni shock' which will test your endurance. But it's possible to strive through. 30-45 minutes is alright, in my...

    How to UNI prep

Sure. I do think in your first semester- you should be adjusting to university and what that means. If that means you take it easy a bit, then that's okay. So I'll try to list some suggestions. Look at the unit guide (if it's out yet) and know what is expected of you and the outcomes of...

    Whats your major?

    Getting ahead in uni

I highly recommend you come to tutorials / practicals prepared, having already done the readings and are familiar with the lecture / textbook. Knowing what you are talking about and having questions / ideas will help. I'm not just talking about participation marks- but it will help with...

Going on holiday during uni term

You can usually get away with missing two weeks of university- but 3 weeks of classes may be a bit too much. You'll have to look it up. Plus, assessments could be due around that time. I was on a holiday in December last year, and was doing a subject externally. Yeah, it got very stressful at...

    Help for life after HSC

English degrees can prepare you for advertising, sales, proofreading / copywriting. Combined with other skills & degrees such as lingustics, commerce, psychology, coding, PR and communications you have something valuable. I know this is a late reply and you've probably already made your...

Are Bachelor of Arts Courses useful?

You might be able to qualify for a B. Science at some universities. If you have to do Arts, use your elective space for Computing subjects, then see about a transfer. Tbh, Arts degrees aren't that bad. I'm doing one (although I've considered B. Social Science). It depends on your major...

I got 64 in my OUA unit :( One off a credit! At least it doesn't count towards my GPA. Global Politics is a fine subject, good for ranting. Anyone got any experience with the philosophy department at MQ? Might take a subject or two this year.

U Live streaming means that you aren't registered for the lecture class, you are registered for listening to them online. Even if you register for a lecture class, you still (should) have access for the lectures online and most, are non-compulsory unlike tutorials.

@orwell I'm quite familiar with the Arts degree structure, session availability, etc. What type of unit are you looking for?

Anyone doing summer school / session 3? I'm going to re-attempt Global Politics through OUA... I did it for a week in Session 1, and dropped out way before the census date... for no real good reason, lol. So here's hoping (second time) lucky. May stay in my Arts degree, and just complete a...

Drugs Across Cultures is ANTH106, an Anthropology unit in the Arts faculty. I did it for three weeks, then dropped it before the census date. I am not a science person. I've heard very mixed things about ASTR178. boredofstudiesuser1- thanks for the rec for Critical Thinking. I know I didn't...

UAC: The solution to my problem?

So, I want to transfer to B. Security Studies at MQ. I'm a current student at MQ (doing a B.A) with 15cp completed and a low credit average. Looking at the selection criteria, I must have four credit grades in PICT first year subjects (the department who runs Security Studies- PICT110, PICT111...

Thanks ilikecats :) I've thought about it, and will consider using open.edu.au. I've used it in the past (it's how I got admission into MQ). I took Modern Warfare this semester (200 level) and I think I'll get a high pass. It's just if I complete the subjects and get passes, then I may not get...

Which is better? A double major in one degree or a double degree?

You can ~let where university takes you~ and double major in a double degree (whether or not this is possible depends on the course / institution). To answer your question, I much prefer two majors in a single degree. That way you diversify yourself, showing you can think under the one umbrella...
