    How leniant are hsc markers?

HSC raw marks tend to be scaled anyway, so there should be no difference if a paper is marked particularly harshly. My English school raw marks were basically the same as my HSC exam raw marks, so maybe it was marked the same? Papers in the HSC are marked twice, which tends to avoid one-off...

Can i get 90+ atar with these results?

Probably, but I wouldn't recommend it, because of the fact that band 6's aren't guaranteed, they're earnt (provided you don't cheat, haha). Plus a better mindset would not be simply "I'll get over 90" but rather "I'll aim as high as possible", which neglecting English severely risks compromising.

Can i get 90+ atar with these results?

To answer your question - yes you can. But that is of course dependant on your HSC final exam performance and your internal marks. I would avoid looking at things through the lens of 'raw marks', as they will change depending on how your school performs. You could 'guesstimate' your internal...

thoughts on chem ace and chem zhangs online?

I did ACE and Zhang's online last year, so things might have changed. Take my experiences with a grain of salt. I only did the ACE exam trial program, where they would send a paper, and have an online session explaining the answers. I have purged that experience from memory as I did horribly in...

Atar Estimate (sorry for boring you guys)

I think it's difficult to provide ATAR estimates, especially when you haven't done the HSC exams. You could very well get a 97+ ATAR if you perform well for your HSC, but try not to fall into the trap of 'guesstimating' your final mark using trial results or ranks. Overconfidence leads to poor...

    HSC atar calculator

HSC mark doesn't arrive until your HSC papers have been marked. It's a fun, relaxing wait. You could 'guesstimate' your marks but considering your HSC is basically 20 days away, it might be a better idea to leave the ATAR calculations for later...

    HSC atar calculator

I personally don't find Matrix to be an accurate ATAR calculator, my ATAR was really off when I typed my HSC marks. Talent got within 0.25 of my ATAR so it has its merit. Talent uses the previous year's data, calculates each courses' scaled marks, finds the aggregate score, to output an ATAR so...

    Atar estimate

ATAR estimates aren't usually too accurate - at least the ones I got - until trial results were released. What that means is that there are a lot of opportunities to improve - especially your trials, and of course the HSC. Do aim for as high as an internal mark (and rank) you can get though...

Need help with picking my subjects

Yeah there's "decent scaling power" in there - but keep in mind you should spend more time on some subjects than others. A lot of ATARs are lower than they could've been (including mine) because we didn't spend enough time on English - do note that you should spend decent time on your weakest...

Need help with a math question

Would remainder theorem not suffice? Long division would work, but it would be tedious in my opinion.

How much tutoring do yall do?

You'll find a lot of things in life are subjective and based on personal experience, time spent on tutoring included. A student with NO tutoring whatsoever may do exceedingly well, as with the student who spends 15 hours a week on tutoring. It's hard to say whether more tutoring hours...

Where to find challenging Chem questions?

The Chemistry Olympiad has some good questions if I recall correctly. (https://www.asi.edu.au/programs/past-exams/chemistry-olympiad-past-exams). Just pick and choose relevant questions which cover HSC content, as I'm pretty sure some of the paper is Year 11 content (still might be useful though).

Preliminary Advanced Maths Indicies Word Problem.

Unfortunately, word problems are on the rise due to the implementation of the new HSC Maths Advanced syllabus. It sucks, but you'll have to get used to them. Trust me, the 2020 and 2021 HSC did have some word problems that require you to have a good understanding of, well, words to then link...

    Science extension scaling considering dropping

Ranking won't matter in small cohorts as long as you all do well - try to avoid being cut-throat but help each other out. Write notes together, test each other...study as a group. Case in point: I ranked last internally for one of my subjects, with only 12 people in my class, but we all did well...

    websites for past papers?

I don't know any websites which categorise by topic, but I know the Cambridge (HSC) Checkpoints books do - highly recommend you buy/borrow it. Excel Success One is a viable option too. Main other website I know of is THSC (https://thsc.zaxu.xyz/).

    Science extension scaling considering dropping

Well, you would be hard pressed to find anyone doing science extension - only 715 people did it! Which do you prefer, biology or science extension? Do you like science extension or are you just doing it for the "scaling benefits"? I haven't done science extension personally but do consider how...

    Transfer to a different uni

Think about which universities your friends go to, proximity to your residence, and contact hours as other factors in determining your choice. I can't make a choice for you, and neither can anyone else, but I'm sorry you have to make such a decision on such short notice.

    Transfer to a different uni

I really doubt university matters that much. Neither are part of the Go8 (group of 8) so there really is no inherent advantage by choosing one over the other. Choose which one you like better, as you are planning on transferring after all. For pharmaceuticals, have you considered transfering...

    Transfer to a different uni

Good luck to you then! Personally I would recommending transferring to Macquarie University (or even staying at WSU if you like it!) - Medical Science at UNSW has super, super competitive people to get one of the coveted 10 places in medicine and I feel Macquarie University is a place where you...

    Transfer to a different uni

You'll be fine. May I ask if you have done maths and science at school? It's assumed knowledge at WSU.
