My solutions to the 2019 Mathematics Extension 2 Paper

Yeah oh well, the exams over now. If everyone else did our method in the solutions done hopefully we get full marks for it lol.

My solutions to the 2019 Mathematics Extension 2 Paper

These raw marks are worrying me lol. In 2016 98 only rounded up to 99, which I assume means it wasn't a state rank, and 2016 was definitely harder than our paper, so maybe state rank for our year will be like 99 or 100 raw lol.

My solutions to the 2019 Mathematics Extension 2 Paper

The surd is actually the golden ratio, so i thought there could be some weird super elegant solution, but I wasn't risking anything in the exam, just went straight for the first thing I saw that made sense lol.

My solutions to the 2019 Mathematics Extension 2 Paper

I'm gonna guess about 73. I thought the alignment for 2017 was less crazy than that though.

My solutions to the 2019 Mathematics Extension 2 Paper

I honestly have no clue how I went, since I haven't checked the solutions. 16 c) was pretty easy, yeah, I did it using supplimentary angles in cyclic quad combined with sine rule, in two particular triangles, which ended up with the result. I would say overall the exam was more difficult than...

My solutions to the 2019 Mathematics Extension 2 Paper

I found the whole paper alright, I was able to get every question out. I'm really worried about algebraic/arithmetic errors though. When I went through to check my answers I found about 4 really dumb errors which I fixed up (One of which was a calculator error, this one really bothers me, what...

My solutions to the 2019 Mathematics Extension 2 Paper

I reckon you should just do what you are interested in. Personally, I was also considering doing actuarial studies with maths, but at ANU. I heard, however, that managing the maths degree at ANU with actuarial studies is next to impossible with the workload so now I'm just doing maths and...

Anyone else in a small class for MX1 / MX2??

I did the old syllabus, but I found cambridge pretty good for problems. New senior mathematics was possibly better for learning new content though.

Anyone else in a small class for MX1 / MX2??

I have also never done tutoring, but I have always gone to a relatively small school with an overall cohort of about 60 kids, so I'm used to smaller classes. 1 on 1 did feel a bit weird initially, but me and my teacher got along as well so that helped. You will get used to it eventually though -...

Anyone else in a small class for MX1 / MX2??

I was the only one in my X2 class and we got through the syllabus by halfway through term 2 this year. Its so much easier having just a one on one teacher/student situation as it allows for the teacher to also work on your own individual weaknesses as opposed to everyone else in the class, and...

    BoS Maths Trials 2019

Which questions did you write out of curiosity?

    BoS Maths Trials 2019

Honestly I'm not surprised. Baulko in particular has such easy trials you could probably lose your position in first just by making one or two silly algebraic errors. Mathematically he would be the most skilled though, considering he is a silver imo medalist lol right?

    BoS Maths Trials 2019

I hope so hahaha. I wish I had been able to go up to sydney to do the bos trials, just to see how I would've went

    BoS Maths Trials 2019

Damn this kid isn't sitting x2 this year is he?

    BoS Maths Trials 2019

Lol and the 2nd highest was like 15 below that. Would have had to have been sharky or some other olympiad/genius haha

    Help on Past Paper questions

For 7bi, my method is slightly different to the other posted, but plug x=p/q into the polynomial equation. Doing so and rearranging gives the result: bq^3 = p\left(3q^2-ap^2\right) This means that, since all the numbers present are integers, p divides bq^3. But p and q are coprime (p does...

    Picking up 4U Maths?

Do top selective schools really get assessed on harder content? Baulko and ruse's trials for example are really easy.

    Picking up 4U Maths?

With your marks I'd say give it a go, especially if the teacher suggests you do, and if you find the workload too much you can always drop. Also tutoring is not essential to do well in 4u, even if your peers do it, you should still be able to keep up.

    BoS Maths Trials 2019

Isn't that question a lot easier to do with cosine rule anyway?

Does anyone have copies of trial papers from this year?

Bump, would be willing to trade
