HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Not good enough for band 6 though

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Honestly, that's why I felt the cutoff would be higher. I really just cannot see myself as a band 6 chem student. Phys, maths sure, but something about a band 6 in chem just seems unattainable. Especially given how bad my school is at chem

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

No :( I only gave equations for Bronsted lowry acids and bases (sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric) because I didn't want to accidentally give an incorrect neutralisation equation. I feel like I gave a lot of info for that, but I didn't give specifics unfortunately. Luckily the exam was...

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

I definitely lost 7 marks to silly mistakes/forgetting things. I finished pretty early and got to scheck my paper multiple times, but I reckin I lost another 8 or so marks. So 85+ is the goal. But I'm not gonna lie, anything that gets 90 aligned will be fine for me

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Yeah but I didn't give any examples. Not expectating to get a great mark for that q tbh. 3/5 would be nice

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

I think it is more correct, but there is a general way to do things, and I don't know if some stupid marker will think you're pulling random bs. But yeah, I highly doubt you'd lose marks

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Whilst I think chances of you losing marks is low, I agree its actually so retarded that there even is a chance you'd lose marks.

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

I really hope you're right, cause if you are the whole chemistry game has changed (in a good way too)

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

I got 0.48% but I forgot the question details, I cant show working.

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Yeah I know. But I feel like there was really no differentiator in this exam. All the questions seemed simple enough. I'm definitely not claiming I aced this test (just hoping for 90 aligned), but I certainly think many people out there easily would have compared to the old syllabus which...

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

    I think for sure 99/100

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Am I the only person that thinks the cutoff will be really high? It seems to me that the only thing that really makes chem tests hard is extended responses (which it lacked in), and most people seem to agree that this test was pretty easy. I feel like the cutoff will be high 80s (but I hope im...

    Very helpful. Thanks

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

I REALLY hope so. I hate extended response questions because its so hard to know what the markers are looking for and for that reason they are relatively bad indicators of your chemistry skill imo.

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Fair enough. I'd assume it'll be similar to the old syllabus. Thanks

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Apart from trials, I've never really done a timed chem paper. Should I be worried about time, or is that usually not a problem in the sciences? I know that obviously I need to be efficient, but does time play a major role in the difficulty of the exam? I know it varies from student to student...

Sorry about that. Didn't realise there was already a thread

    Mathematics Extension 1 Exam Predictions/Thoughts

In a bubble I considered the case where the composite angles do not work, and I received alpha=pi (which is not true). But it turns out you're supposed to arrive at alpha=0 to prove that case not true. I must have made a silly mistake, but seeing as how I don't think me showing the other case to...

    Mathematics Extension 1 Exam Predictions/Thoughts

I stated the domain of both alpha and x0, to justify using the composite angle. Will I lose marks (if any marks at all are lost for doing that)?
