Casual or School Uniform to HSC exam

My school had a pretty strict code, you had to have intact school uniform (a lot got destroyed during muck up day) and you needed to be clean shaven. I saw some students getting shaved outside the exam room before being allowed to enter, or being told to get a haircut (often rushing to the...

    Economics in the HSC

You'll find yourself putting in a lot more work for HSC economics than preliminaries. I was in a similar spot in Year 11 but come Year 12 I approached it a little too lightly and messed up my first assessment which led to me crawling my way back up to a decent rank. I won't recommend dropping it...

    creative

That's definitely the way to go, you'll benefit from having a skeleton creative you can then add meat to if that is your preferred way of approaching stimulus. I found that having solid descriptors and proper grammar was the most important thing in my preparation stage, in the exam room it was...

    Film related text?

I seemed to enjoy watching The Present by Jacob Frey, pretty popular short film with a pretty decent discovery too.

    AOS: Discovery Essay

You can definitely mould but be aware that some rubric words are harder to adapt to. Intellectual to emotional is very straight forward but you need to consider what if they ask you unexpected or confronting discoveries, etc. In that case, do a practice run, try and answer those types of...

I need some english help pls

You would really benefit from working on your expression, often doing an 'essay' seems so overwhelming that you lose track of how to write a good analysis sentence. What I would recommend is taking it slowly, start with trying to have a solid analysis sentence of any text and work your way...

how many pages for a band 6 in eng?

If we're talking strictly page count I always ended up getting to 5 pages for most my essays (given my handwriting size). I would definitely take the advice of following word count over page count but if your in the exam room you can use my estimate for a 950 word essay to be 5-6 pages

Should I consider Maths Ext 2?

Do it for sure, if you accelerated your 2U your next best step is to consider 4U. The way that 4U scales it's basically you getting an assumed 100% for 2U anyway and honestly worse comes to worse you can just drop down later. I taught a student who was in a similar spot to you and I'd say for a...

11 units or 10 units for HSC?

My 11th unit for my HSC was ext english so I was pretty inclined to keep it, since you feel that way about SOR 1 you probably should drop it. FYI my ext english didnt even count at the end of the day and I got 44/50 lol. Was interesting to learn and study tho.

Any tips for starting Year 11?

Focus from day 1 for sure, if you have time to spend over the summer break read your English books and if you want to get ahead for Maths you could do some algebra practice 1-2 weeks before school starts.

Is anyone else feeling lazy towards the HSC or is it just me?

I got super tired for my HSC especially when it was getting really close to my final exam, I'd say figure out a way to fight it healthily because you don't wanna start the bad habit of doing no study at all after an exam because you feel 'burnt out'. For experience sake I did truck through and...

    confusion of module c

You definitely should emphasis the last bit 'politics can either liberate or hinder individuals' in your topic sentence and try and expand on this point and particularly why an author like Miller would want to convey this point (i.e. teach us about human nature). Then you could have a second...

    Yeats 2017 HSC

They don't tell you these things lol, You'll be suprised on the day, best prepare for everything. You could take the risk and predict the specification but the safest option is to find 6 quotes for every poem and be comfortable to use them.

    Schoolies??

If you're not up for the crowds you could just plan your own schoolies, get a couple of close friends and head overseas or interstate. Went with my close mates and it was hands down one of the best experiences we've had.

year 11 economics compared to year 12

Agreed, in fact I think focusing from day 1 in Year 12 is the most important thing, I was top 5 in year 11 and I messed up my first exam because of over confidence and was ranked near the bottom end, so there's an analogy that should inspire you ^^

    confusion of module c

I'd probably be more direct as to what is the possible comment on politics, you do go into more story telling than you do analysis. You need to think about whether there was a thirst for power, a need to persuade the public, a manipulation of the truth --> basically anything political. You do...

Comparitive essay, the shark net (novel), and i'm not scared (film)?

Couldn't agree more  Although if you're looking for something to discuss about character growth you'd definitely benefit from comparing and contrasting two prominent characters between the two texts. You're probably looking at things like how they react to certain events in their lives...

Spirited away as a related text for discovery

I think the argument would be that Year 7/8's would be studying it on a different level... not that it isn't a worthy text. It would be obvious to state that if you rely solely on a Year 7/8 interpretation of the text you wouldn't go far. It could still be an option if you're able to extend your...

Starting Year 12 in a week or so NEED TIPS

Well you have one week to go pretty much before Year 12 starts so for Maths I'd recommend you go ahead and practice some topics that you lost marks for in your preliminary exams because you'll need it for Year 12, if you're really committed you can try and learn ahead but even relearning past...
