    Moderate muslims?

It's great that you noted that there is no direct correlation between religion and this practice. More correctly however - there is no causal relationship between religion and this practice even though there appears to be a correlation. The reason I linked that video is because I personally...

tax. one of the highest starting salaries in big 4s and you don't get killed with hours either.

    Job Prospects for Actuarial Science

Can confirm as source. This guy is the god of actuary (dem level 45/47 conference rooms peaked with your wisdom last summer mate.)

    Accounting / Professional Services

I agree that within the big 4 - its the roughest to crack. It is 'competitive' in a sense that there are a few spots but I know that there were 5 interns in one of the big 4s last summer no one particularly 'hardcore'. I also know people who work in corp finance and they are not IB level...

    Moderate muslims?

First, have a listen to this, I thought he was fairly reasonable with all his arguments and counter arguments. Let me know if you disagree with any points. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzusSqcotDw&ab_channel=BuzzSourse Second, don't confuse 'muslim' with 'arab'. Not the same thing...

I hate my course :( What are my options?

As a finance student, 2 unit is enough but you definitely need to put in extra work unless you're doing fluffy units like Behavioral Finance (majority of the finance guns at my uni cohort scored 95+ in 3u/4u - the only 'gun' that did 2 unit being one who state ranked 2 unit (hello zb m8). No one...

I hate my course :( What are my options?

OP, as others have said, best option is probably to transfer out to UTS. Besides travel, I see no reason to be trying to transfer back into unsw for commerce. I say this mainly because university is not easy. If you're struggling with first year units, there is an issue. It obviously doesn't...

Jobs you can get with commerce degree?

D94, are you in ibd/m&a or trading based role? I definitely agree with you that you definitely have to have a high level of proficiency in finance and just the markets in general to land a grad role etc. But clearly, as exemplified by you and many others comm degree isn't necessary. Although it...

To HSCers who did both Biology and Physics: Which one did you prefer?

I did both and got 92 in both during 2012 hsc. Physics was a lot more challenging (especially during 2012 iirc) while bio is mainly rote learning. Physics is something you can catch up on if you're fairly logical because my year 11 marks in phys was around 50 pc (did not care about school back...

No motivation for uni anymore. Advice?

From the sound of things, you are clearly a capable person (going off your grades) and this seems more like a social/settling in problem. A big part of my first year was simply getting to know people because without that university can become a big struggle that you start to hate. For...

Help! Law at Sydney/UTS? Very confused

What did you not like about your experience at Sydney Law so far? i.e. you don't like law (content wise), you haven't socially settled in etc. etc. this is important to know

    mq to usyd

Yeah, you will need 48 cred points. I would suggest you stay at Macquarie and if you want, transfer in next year (they will still credit most of your units aside from a few junior ones I think). Also, only transfer into usyd if you're performing very well at MQ and think you need to 'step it up'...

    Assessing my options

But I think it is possible to study up. A friend of mine from comm did it this time with no science background (just high school chem) and a month of independent study. Got 99tile in sciencr section. He got 99.95 during the hsc but just did the gamsat for the lols so he is a fairly bright guy.

    CFA and CAIA journal

Re: CFA journal.. 88 days of Shaolin Monk level of abstinence and discipline! Hopeful What was/is your undergrad? Shouldn't you know a good proportion of those words already (assuming finance major)? Good luck. Level 1 isn't too rekt.

    Investment Banking

I think just the fact that it is seen upon as very difficult to get into (true) + prestigious + more money than any other grad program out there + great exit options + relatively interesting compared to other things commerce offers. Most importantly though, when you start off at uni, it is...

    Investment Banking

I had never heard of investment banking until the 2nd semester of uni. Relax, do what you enjoy and if you're good at it, you'll have a decent shot at an interview. There are pure science kids in there too with 0 finance knowledge but otherwise very bright students.

    Investment Banking

Lol what are they feeding kids at open days about infosys. At best, it is a good side major if you can't do anything else. It is absolutely worthless for IB.

Is accounting really as boring as people make it out to be :(?

It's not for everyone. I don't like accounting merely because it seems very procedural - which tends to be dull. While 90% of the people I know share the same view, my best mate loves it + smashed his internship and because of that was given a free trip to US/Disneyland. So if you are into it...
