Society and Culture: Hard to get Band 6?!

How hard is it to study for society and culture, and how hard is it in general to get a band 6? Can you rote learn most of the content? Will it be difficult to balance a P.I.P with my other subjects--- 2 unit maths, advanced english, chem and bio? Thanks peeps! :)

    Chem or ancient?!

Oh and one last question about chem. Do we have to memorise experiments we do in class for the HSC exam? :O Hope that's not the case..

    Tips for time management?

    Good points, guys! Thanks :)

    Tips for time management?

How would you do this if you don't know what tests, homework and assignments are coming up? :) Do you recommend studying for more than one subject per day or sticking to one sub per day?

Anyone doing Bio, Chem or 3 unit maths? Extension Maths is such a pain...........can't wait to drop it to 2 unit in Yr 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Tips for time management?

Open discussion on ways Yr 11 and Yr 12 kids should manage and organise their time to excel in the HSC. Any advice, tips, recommendations and experiences would be appreciated, as I personally need help with time management! Anything you regret doing or not doing in your Prelim years that you...

    Chem or ancient?!

Hahaha what a relief! Of course I'll actually try to understand the concepts as I go! Thank you so much for everything! Really appreciate the help :)

    Chem or ancient?!

Thanks for all the help guys... but I'm still partially doubting myself. AGain. I'm still not sure about chem or ancient. I'm awesome at rote-learning...and I don't know if one can rote learn and excel in chem? I'm not sure if I'll be capable..there's no way I can tell until I sit my half...

    Chem or ancient?!

Hahaha so glad to hear that! What a relief! :) So nothing from prelim gets tested in ANY subjects? Do we have to go back and revise what we learnt over both years with all subjects? Are you studying chem atm in school? If so, what's it like in terms of workload? Do we have to do many assignments...

    Chem or ancient?!

Thank you everyone so much for the feedback! Although I'm fearing chem now,I think this is mainly because the first topic is horrible -separating mixtures?! Hopefully that won't be tested in the HSC course?? But looking through my chem book, I've found that it does get much more interesting. I...

    Chem or ancient?!

So you can't just really learn all the dot points and study hard to get that Band 6? Or is it something you can't quite prepare for? So you believe it is super time consuming? Do you think I'd be able to cope with 2 unit maths, advanced english, bio and society and culture's P.I.P along with...

    Chem or ancient?!

Mmmm.... thanks for that:) So... do you reckon that in terms of workload and difficulty, it is harder to get a Band 6 in chem? Do you have to be a science whiz or naturally talented in Chem to be able to excel in it? Do you necessarily have to LOVE it to get a band 5/6? Also... I'm worried about...

    Chem or ancient?!

Hi guys, I'm a year 11 student who's tossing up between keeping chemistry or swapping it and doing ancient history instead? Although Chem scales well etc etc, I'm struggling in it and don't find it very interesting. I think I could do well in both, but much better in ancient. Would this be a...

    Please! Freaking out

I've only just started. We're doing a revision on algebra, factorising and equations. Nothing tricky yet but I cannot judge until we get to the really challenging topics. Time will tell, I guess! :)

    Please! Freaking out

But choosing subjects that you are interested in and actually like, can help you excel and achieve a high ATAR. They don't necessarily have to be relevant to your career choice

    Please! Freaking out

I have to agree on some note...but so far the course isn't too interesting and I've had a look at the yr 12 course and it doesn't appeal to me. I fear it will be too difficult and stressful... :( What are your thoughts on society and culture?
  17. Miss-Indecisive

    Please! Freaking out

I definitely want to get higher than that, but am just interested to know that even if you do pretty badly, you can still achieve a good atar! Thanks for your feedback, and if I find that I'm performing far too badly in 3 unit (which i hope does not happen!)I won't take on 4 unit :)
  18. Miss-Indecisive

    Please! Freaking out

I'm doing five subjects now including chemistry which I'm considering dropping, and instead taking up 4 unit. These subjects, although strange, really do interest me. I'm hoping to get into medicine or psychology...I think that with those subjects I can perform to my best ability. :)

    Please! Freaking out

Thanks guys for the help :) So I don't have to be a measurement genius to do well? I'll definitely talk to my teacher about it and see what she thinks! I have heard, though, that even if you get like...a 40/100..(god forbid) it scales to a 70+? Is that true? It's also that way on atar calculators :L
  20. Miss-Indecisive

    Please! Freaking out

Can I just ask, if I'm pretty bad at measurement, volume etc... does that mean I'm incapable of doing 4 unit? You don't have to be the smartest student to do good,do you? :)
