I'll try my best :) But is it true that they can throw questions at you that are extremely difficult to answer and interpret, and that you can't really prepare for the last few questions? Is it true that it is intellect alone that can get you through the last ones?

Btw, do I have to be an extraordinary, outstanding and naturally talented student to be able to handle it? Or is hard work mixed with a decent amount of talent and ambition well enough to get me through? :)

Thank you! That's a good idea :) I'll keep extension english for a while until I'm certain after 4 unit, and then if it's too much of a struggle, I'll drop to 3 unit and keep extension english.. so that's still 10 units :) Thanks for that!

Also want to point out that I want to study medicine or psychology after school! :)

I'm doing advanced english, Extension english, extension maths, bio, chem, society and culture. Thinking of dropping chem and english extension 1 and taking up 4 unit next year.

Thank you! But the problem is I can't drop because all my subjects add to 10 units. If i drop to 2 unit, then I'd have 8 units and not be able to sit the hsc. The reason why I'm worried so much is because once I'm in, there's no getting out if I can't cope! :o

Yes I hear the scaling's amazing, but what use would it be if I stressed so much, couldn't handle the pressure and bombed out in the exam? :(

Hi there, Am currently a Yr 11 student. I'm considering picking up 4 unit maths next yr but am not sure as to the difficulty and possibility of doing well? I'm a really hard worker and do pretty well in Maths. Can I cope with the following subjects combined that I've planned to select in yr 12...

    Advice Needed

Thanks for that in-depth answer! Really helped and I shall definitely take up the calendar idea haha :) Well... year 11 is definitely ALL about the experimentation for me. I've chosen Advanced English, Extension 1 English, Chemistry, Biology, Society and Culture, and Maths Extension 1. The...

    Advice Needed

I'll be heading into Year 11 this year and really want to know if anyone has any advice they want to give on how to prepare myself for the HSC and how to best ensure success for the upcoming years? Any tips you'd like to give that maybe you didn't have given to you, or that you wish you could go...

    Is it too much?

To be honest, it didn't even look interesting to me on paper at all! Modern did. But, my mind was getting crowded with all the comments and recommendations of teachers that I couldn't even hear my own voice. In my school, Ancient gets the Band 6s. It's our strongest subject. Teachers are great...

    Is it too much?

OMFG! It's too late, I already picked Ancient!!!!!!!!!!! AH! I should've bloody picked Modern! What's so bad about Ancient??? Dude, you're freaking me out! :o

    Is it too much?

Yes, I've heard the same! However, most people misjudge the 'harder' statement. Modern's probably only slightly more difficult because of the need to memorise dates, events and information about icons of the 20th century. Content-wise, I would say Ancient is heavier. The only 'easy' thing about...

    Best places for hsc tutoring?

Thanks for the help guys :) What are your thoughts on Alpha Omega and 'The Brain'?

    Is it too much?

Yes, unfortunately I know its gonna be a HUGE challenge taking on 2 extensions, but then again, I have more free periods than any one else in my year!! So yippeeee more time to study and stuff :D Anguyenh, so you think Modern would have been a better choice? I think the hardest choice in my life...

    Best places for hsc tutoring?

Mmmmm... Is Matrix really that helpful then? Have been hearing a whole bunch of negative and positive things. Why would you so strongly recommend it? :)

    Best places for hsc tutoring?

I've been hearing information here and there, about different coaching colleges in Sydney. I really need to select one for my final 2 years of high school, and I'm struggling to decide which one offers the best services and can guarantee quality education/assistance. Apparently Matrix is the...

    Subject Selection?

Can't answer all your questions sine I'm in Year 10 also, but I can help out based on tips that I got from others who finished the HSC. Those subjects will be challenging of course, like the HSC as a whole. But that's life. Put in all your time and effort for Year 12 and you'll be greatly...

is a high ATAR still possible?

My school is one of the lowest ranking schools. But, don't let your school's rank put you off. Those who will and want to work hard and achieve, will do so wherever they are, no matter how their school ranks. An example of this is a girl who got a 99 ATAR in my crappy-ranking school!! There were...
