How well do all my subjects for next year scale?

    Eco, eng adv and maths are really close so it fluctuates from year to year. In 2011 it was english> eco > maths. English Adv 50.0 46.8 42.7 38.5 32.5 26.1 Economicss 50.0 46.7 42.6 39.0 33.3 25.4 Mathematics 50.0 46.8 42.3 38.3 32.2 24.9 ^Verry close

What's the difference between aligning and scaling?

Yes but when we talk about scaling we SHOULD compare raw marks with scaled marks. This means that Standard does not scale the same as advanced. Scaling and aligning are two different processes that have nothing to do with each other. Scaling is done to calculate ATAR and aligning is done as a...

    Scaling for standard English?

? The scaling graph on that website seems to prove my point

What's the difference between aligning and scaling?

They don't scale the same. It's a common misconception. Standard aligns AND scales badly.

    Scaling for standard English?

Nah both the scaling and aligning is really terrible.

What's the difference between aligning and scaling?

Aligning is done by BOS and Scaling by UAC Aligning has absolutely no effect on your ATAR. It's just scaling you need to worry about.

    Scaling for standard English?

No its actually not. Standard has horrible scaling. Even ESL scales SIGNIFICANTLY better.

    Memorising essays for English

Gonna agree with iSplicer. Memorising definitely helps. Your essay has to flow eloquently and its extremely hard to do in 40 mins with the pressure people put on themselves in the HSC. Yes there are some naturally gifted people or exceptions to the rule, but the majority of people who do well...

    Bankers/Investment Bankers Lifestyle

Actually I think you make 200k around your third/fourth year. Semi successful senior IBs should rake in 1M+ easy. It depends what group or company you work for. But from my understanding it never becomes manageable. If you're in IB, you're basically going to be an absent father. Its just...

    Bankers/Investment Bankers Lifestyle

This might be a good read for those who are thinking IB. http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/life-after-investment-banking Sounds pretty miserable. Dont know how accurate it is but most people seem to agree.

    Changing school

You can just do eng adv at tafe, oten or distance high school. Heaps of people accelerate subjects, particularly maths, that way.

Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

Correlation does not imply causation. Selective/Private schools attract the people that these people look for. Not only is the cutoff for co-op very high (96.7?) but for the courses offered: engineering, commerce etc. they probably prefer students who do 3u/4u maths. Most non selective schools...

    Vietnamese bread rolls

Pate, the minced liver, is actually French and its the least of your worries. Id be more concerned about the bright pink mystery meat. And all mayonnaises are solidified oil, its just the viet version has less egg. To op: Cabra has the best pork rolls, no question

    Employers biased against some Uni's

Bias does exist and to disregard it would be ignorant. Its kind of like saying scaling doesnt exist and you can get any ATAR with any combination of subjects. Sure you can 99.95 with gen maths, senior science and standard english but its infinitely easier with subjects like 4u Maths and...

    UBS Cadetship

http://www.coop.unsw.edu.au/future_students/downloads/files/All%20Programs.pdf Its a distinction average. You can only major in finance because they make you do honours. I reckon ATAR is in the vicinity of 98. Keep in mind its VERY competitive and finance is the most requested and they...

    UBS Cadetship

Cadets basically do similar things regardless of offices. I love the use of 'client facing' division. Makes it sounds like cadets will be in 'client facing' roles. There is a big difference. Even at entry level, front office jobs entail editing powerpoints, pitches, excel data and other mundane...

    UBS Cadetship

Even the finance coops might not be what most people envisioned. For such a competitive program a handful usually drop out after their first work placement. I think its because they were chasing the cash and not realising that 9am-12am is a normal workday

    Best uni/course for creative advertising?

If you can get in, the usyd media degree lets you do 3 majors: one in media, and random arts majors including marketing
