calculation for the number of photons?!

I think that would convert your photon energy from Joules to eV.
  2. W

    Part B?

The standard orbital velocity equation, v=ROOT(Gm/r). You were given the Earth's radius and the altitude of the satellite, and since you know G, then solve for V.

calculation for the number of photons?!

The answer is 2.26x10^15 photons. You find the photon energy from the given wavelength, then divide the total energy by photon energy. I think the wavelength was 450nm and the given total energy was 1x10^-3 J.

    Section I Part B

One of my friends wrote something along the lines of 'the coil will rotate to become perpendicular to the magnetic field and become stationary, and the force on side AB is equal and opposite to the force on side DC, thus the net force is equal to zero'. Is that also acceptable? He said it was...

    Section I Part B

    Woot, I did that :)

    Section I Part B

Hey, What did you guys get for the motors and generators question that asked something along the lines of 'why is the net force on the coil zero?'..or something like that.

    Multiple Choice

Good point hehe, I just thought it would be flipped over.
  8. W

    Part B?

    That is correct.

    band 6 cut-off.

Less than 80% raw for a band 6???? This test was surprisingly easy (being conservative here).. If I was BOS, I would make the cut-off lower to mid 80s.
  10. W

    how much did you write?

2 pages for QtoQ (SUCH A GOOD QUESTION!!!) and filled the space for AC gens.

    Multiple Choice

I'm looking at a graph of it on the Jacaranda book, and it's just a straight line.
  12. W

    Multiple Choice

    Regarding Question 17, is it A or B? Shouldn't it be A since it's a linear expression? If 17 is A, then 20/20 :D:D

    Top School vs Lower School

Hey, Lets say I went to a relatively lowly ranked school and did quite well in my internals (band 6s) while everyone else did relatively bad (band 3, 4, 5), how would that scale my HSC mark? Lets say that they got B3, 4 and 5s while I got high B5s and lower B6s. Is there that much of a...

    Rewards from parents

Wow, you have a lot of computers haha. I have an i7 desktop for home and a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 for on the go (I put a 256GB SSD in there, works like a charm). Also, does the MBA have a HDMI or DisplayPort, then you don't have to buy a ridiculously expensive Thunderbolt display. OH, and I almost...

    Rewards from parents

Holy shit, some of you getting trips to Europe, <$20000 cars? I get nothing except for a hug and a few pats on the back, and that's all I want and expect.

I don't own the success one book.

Who thinks that the 2011 cohort is the 'experiment year'?

    The Indochina question was beautifulllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!
  18. W

Who thinks that the 2011 cohort is the 'experiment year'?

Did you see the Modern History, Economics and 2U Math exams? They were all very straight forward and generic, except for a few of the economics multiple choice question. I think every year might feel that they are the 'experiment year' since...I don't know :P

need help in quanta quarks question!! PLS HELP

You find the mass of the deuterium by adding the constituent nucleons (2 protons + 2 neutrons for both nucleons). Mass of helium is 6.646x10^-27 Mass of hydrogen is 6.688x10^-27 Defect is 4.2x10^-29 E=Defect x Light Squared =3.8x10^-12J = 24 MeV
