Internal marks are only important because they determine internal ranks. Getting 60s or 70s in internals does not mean you are prevented from getting a band 6. :)

Considering that you have already completed more than 50% of the course, it's going to be extremely challenging to break into the top 10...Let alone first. However, if you work really hard for the rest of the year and perform strongly in externals, 90+ can definitely be achievable. :)

Since you are coming first, I would suggest you don't drop legal studies. Scaling is NOT a good reason to drop a subject. By coming first (provided you also come first in externals), your external modernated mark will equal your internal mark. So don't worry :)

I think you could get an ATAR of 95. Improving your chemistry will probably help you to get above 96.

School rank matters when trying to determine an ATAR estimate though. Eg someone ranked 1st in all subjects in a less competitive school may not necessarily be equal to someone who came 1st in a more competitive school.
