    Fourteen Units for the HSC?

13/14 is probably too much. But you could keep them up to your first assessment task and then drop based on your performance in the. :)

    Atar scaling

I think he was talking about moderation. :)

how to get Dux of your school?

It depends on the school. Sometimes highest aggregate has been used.
  4. simplyinsanity

    Atar scaling

Most likely - yes. However, if the cohort went to the HSC and all got extremely close marks eg 95-99, this gap would be rather small. It depends on the spread of marks during the final HSC exam.

Subjects to drop in HSC year??

When you drop a subject, you career's adviser or whoever does this at your school will actually remove it from your school record. This means you will not be required to sit its HSC exam and subsequently it will not count towards your atar. Also, hate to burst your bubble, but you can't drop...

    subject selection - any advice??

Board Of Studies requires 12 units in year 11, regardless of school.

    Final choices in subject selection

I think you should keep your sciences. If you've done well in them through junior school, you will probably be successful in the HSC course as well. Also about business studies, just check to make sure your uni course has no pre-requisites. Content wise, because you're studying economics, I...

    Subject Selection CONFLICT

From what you've posted here, I think you should try drama or hospitality. By the way, non-atar course is not a problem - it means you don't even have to sit a HSC exam! I definitely would not recommend legal studies for you because it is 50+ % essay and the short-response questions are...

    ATAR Estimate

Internal marks are only important because they determine internal ranks. Getting 60s or 70s in internals does not mean you are prevented from getting a band 6. :)

    Need help! ATAR Estimate

Considering that you have already completed more than 50% of the course, it's going to be extremely challenging to break into the top 10...Let alone first. However, if you work really hard for the rest of the year and perform strongly in externals, 90+ can definitely be achievable. :)

Half Yearly ATAR Estimate Please :)

You're ranks aren't too bad. Considering that there is still half a year's worth of assessment tasks (which includes trials often 40% weighting), of course you can still get an ATAR of 95+. At the moment, I would estimate at around 91/92.
  12. simplyinsanity

May I get an atar estimate, please? How difficult would it be to get a 95, rn?

I'm sorry but your ranks are all below average and you are only doing 10 units. At the moment, I don't think you would get a 95 ATAR. If I were you, I'd focus on improving English and Japanese (considering how small that cohort is, impriving a couple of ranks in Jap would help you a lot)...

    Should I drop Legal Studies?

    Definitely :)

    Should I drop Legal Studies?

Since you are coming first, I would suggest you don't drop legal studies. Scaling is NOT a good reason to drop a subject. By coming first (provided you also come first in externals), your external modernated mark will equal your internal mark. So don't worry :)

    band 6 maths extension 1

Hey. I was accelerated and did maths extension 1 last year. Even if you did worse than expected in the first two assessment tasks, don't forget that trials are usually worth 40% of your internal mark. Considering that the external HSC is worth 50%, this means that trials + externals = 70% of...

    4U Maths Scaling Question

    I think it's even lower.

    Should I drop physics?

I have considered dropping physics too, partially because I found the teacher to be unable to explain concepts in a way that I could actually understand them. However, I made an effort to read my textbook and make more comprehensive study notes. Physics includes a lot of calculations problems so...

May I pleaseeeee get an ATAR estimate from you?

I think you could get an ATAR of 95. Improving your chemistry will probably help you to get above 96.
  19. simplyinsanity

    Atar estimates?

School rank matters when trying to determine an ATAR estimate though. Eg someone ranked 1st in all subjects in a less competitive school may not necessarily be equal to someone who came 1st in a more competitive school.
