    Raw Marks

In 2010 83/84 aligned to 100, so it depends on their standards.

    Q13

Re: Q13 Cii (0 Displacement question) x is equal to displacement. So you sub in x = 0. If you were asked to find when the particle passes the point where it oscillates about, then it would be x=5.

    Q12

Re: probability question Part i is wrong, part ii has correct follow through though so you'll still get 2 marks. There was no need for product rule (1/2 - 1/5 would've given you the answer).

    2012 Solutions -- Terry Lee

Wait, I didn't see the second integration sign :P, makes sense now.

    2012 Solutions -- Terry Lee

    Is Q7 right?
  6. S

    Q16

Probably 2/3 Generally the marking criteria is 1 mark for proving true for the base case, then 2 marks for the algebraic part. That being said, you have to make significant progress in the algebraic part.

    HSC aligning

Yep, the 25/40 marks align differently based on how well each cohort goes in the common paper. It may be different this year, seeing that the shared question favored multi.

    Section 2 - Creative Writing

I had a man in a coma remembering his past, showed he didn't belong etc, then had the sunlight hit his face on the hospital bed - his mind envisages himself on the tree again, sunlight used again, went into detailed imagery to show belonging to place.

    Section 2 - Creative Writing

Wrote 3 pages, but the stimulus of the kid on the tree + the question itself suited my story perfectly, hoping for 12ish.

What are hoping to get for english raw?

It should get you low-mid 80's in standard

    Rank

First raw internal mark was in the 90's, last was in the 30's. There was a cluster of students near the top, however, the student I'm talking about was in the 40's internally. Externally, the marks ranged from mid-low 60's to 97, students around her received roughly 70 as the moderated...
  12. S

    Rank

Not everyone did well, there were roughly 10 students above 90 externally (highest 97), she was ranked ~60th
  13. S

    Rank

There are some extreme cases where rank wont have a huge bearing. A HSC student in 2010 from my school was in the bottom of our SOR 1 cohort (80ish people, school rank of 90 that year) and scored 96 externally - her final HSC mark was 95.

    HSC in one word

    Capricious

    rankings question

I was under the impression that schools had to submit full marks to the BOS, but some schools change the final internal assessment marks in order to ensure there are no ties at first.

    Scholarships

The only scholarships that you get instantly from ATAR require 99.9(5)

    Singing and HSC:

If you do it in the exam room you'll probably get a 0

    acidic env. multiple choice

Yeah, that makes sense, thanks. For some reason I thought that weak acids would have steeper curves because they're weak. I wish they didn't call them strong/weak :P
  19. S

    acidic env. multiple choice

Can I just clarify something for this question? I understand that citric acid is triprotic, and therefore will take the longest to undergo complete reaction. However, what I'm not completely sure about is the reason why it also takes the longest to cause the indicator to change colour. Is it...

    State rankings

I only get ~75% when marking my own papers (incidentally, that's what I got in the trial itself). I haven't really studied that much for chemistry - yet. One thing I've realised though; CSSA MC seem easier than HSC MC (not many trick questions).
