I want to start Tutoring but ...

Well depending on your teaching ability. Even with people with 99.98 if they're socially inept (LOL) they won't be the best tutors?
  2. F

    Related texts

They can ask for up to two. Therefore prepare two- know the text type, content, context, techniques. However, I memorised my essays, knowning 1 particular related text in detail. I know that many people may advise against this, but IMO not many people can manipulate their english notes into...

    Senior Subjects and BMBS

It should be fine. I would suggest doing 2U maths in Year 11 first, see if you can handle it (maybe with the help of a tutor?) and then drop down. Easier to go down than up. Also better to experiment in Yr 11 than in Yr 12

    Which University?

UNSW: a bit far away, good social life, internationally recognised Macquarie: closer, shit social life (IMO), not that well known internationally but it really depends on you and what uni you feel will suit you best!

    Regrets of Picking Certain Subjects

No regrets, pretty happy with all of my decisions
  6. F

Lacking motivation. What do you do?

You will continually feel like you are losing motivation, it's common during the last two years of school. Remember to give yourself breaks, and don't overdo it.

Would a tablet be useful in Uni?

What about for psychology- pen/paper or laptop? Would it be wise to type up notes after each lecture, so that they are online for exam prep?
  8. F

Is it worth ordering a mark recheck??

Applying for bonus points is already too late. Just pray and hope for the best, although past results show ATARS are remaining the same/increasing. You can always transfer.
  9. F

    What is your first preference?

USYD law is marginally better than UNSW, because it's been around longer haha and is internationally renowned
  10. F

    Is law boring?

Is law boring? I mean considering all the lectures/readings, is it actually interesting material?

    Uni Transfer

Most unis consider either your ATAR + Tertiary Grade Average (50%, 50%) or your Tertiary Grade Average alone, depending on whichever is higher. IT's recommended you maintain at least a D or HD average.
  12. F

2.5 Below the desired cut-off, can I still get in?

Probably not...ATARS will GENERALLY stay the same, around that 75 mark. Having said that, if your course offers HSC Plus, or if you have bonus points from other schemes, you may be able to get in
  13. F

How many days at uni per week?

How about for Psychology at USYD?

    Accepting offers

If you accept the first pref, then you won't lose it. Your spot will be secured. Provided you are eligible for your 2nd pref, you MIGHT get it. Remember that final and late rounds only have a few preferences that are given out.

    making friends

Just ask generic questions i.e. what classes are you taking, what school did you go to etc. Most people would be willing to participate in conversations as everyone is new, and so they're in the same boat as you

What is effective study and how to study?

Read ahead, make notes and most importantly READ AND LEARN those notes. Do some practice papers, maybe in the sections that you've learnt. Effective study means you absorb the information in the best possible way. My advice= get enough sleep, have a good diet, balance study/life and just...

For those of you who transferred/are transferring to a selective school

Think of it as a good experience, in life you will always be put into situations where you don't know anyone!! Honestly, when I moved schools it took a bit of getting used to but you should be able to find our own group of friends and settle in, if not there are always people you can go to for help!

    Maths extension 2! Help asap

There's no way you'll get full marks in an actual HSC exam for 4u maths. Also, setting yourself such high expectations may mean you don't achieve them as you may put too much pressure on yourself. By all means, try your best but don't overdo it.
