How to write a poem on the Victorian Era? =P

Re: Anyone spare a poem or how to make one? =P That sounds like an awesome idea :D I did that for an assessment last year I think, only it wasn't women, it was slaves, but still. It was cool, and fun to write...

    University Open Day 2008?

Which one are you going to?

The structure of an english speech?

It would very strongly depend on what sort of speech it was - you'd have vastly different speeches if you were presenting something aimed at the 'prime minister', compared to if you were presenting something aimed at your peers, or if it was just a self-reflective type speech. But in general...

Prelim tasks didn't go so well..:(

Good to know :D But yeah, don't worry, it is "only year 11" so your marks won't count, but with regards to succeeding in year 12, it is just a matter of how willing you are to put in the work required, and if you are, then everything will be awesome :D Good luck with the rest of your exams...

Subject opportunity for Year 11 students next year

Sorry, didn't explain very well :D I meant programs like (Qld versions because I don't know any NSW uni's) http://www.scholarships.qut.edu.au/commencing/start/ http://www.uq.edu.au/guidance/index.html?page=53133 where you just go to uni classes like a normal uni student, but you're actually...

    Half-Yearly Thoughts

There's a new standard vs advanced scaling thread every week :bomb:

Subject opportunity for Year 11 students next year

If you're not fussed about whether they're school/UAI/whatever, don't universities have courses and subjects that they let certain people do? If you were looking for interesting things to do, then that could be something, because university subjects have really cool looking names :D

    Writing a good response

Yeah, the main thing is to get to the point and start answering the question as soon as possible. It doesn't need to look nice or sound sophisticated or anything (that is what essays and such are for), just communicate your understanding of the topic. I also have trouble with waffling too...

    Did terrible.

No, people are just irritated by your need to create a thread about them.

Screwing up Maths and Changing Subjects

Adding to that, don't practise the maths, but your test-taking skills. You seem far too...confident...to bother spending extra time on the actual maths (and if you are doing well in class then that says that the maths isn't a problem). Do your homework/past papers/revision sheets in test...

    Half-Yearly Thoughts

You know, I was thinking just last night that if I moved to a UAI type place, I would really, really like to get a 99.85. There must be something truly awesome about that number :D

A survey on the use of social networking sites =P plz help me out

    Distractions, not working hard, laziness.

Except for the "or you fail" bit, that actually makes a lot of sense... My parents are like that (not Asian, African, but you know, the whole immigrant thing) and I guess that's how I would be too if I moved to a different country and everything...

    wot subject shuld i drop

I'd drop biology...but... Which two could you see yourself improving the most in? Is there one in particular that you just absolutely will never be able to get, despite trying really really hard? Maybe looking at it from the "future" angle could help you to decide, rather than judging on...

    Half-Yearly Thoughts

We only get ours in the holidays...:( although we've got all the marks back and stuff, but not assembled into a pretty report with glowing comments or anything...

    Half-Yearly Thoughts

Oh, sorry - should have realised I had to explain that! It just stands for Very High Achievement (and such). The numbers give finer discrimination than just A+/A/A- etc because we don't have percentages like you do. 10 is good, 1 is bad. VHA is good, VLA is bad. Yeah.

Scaling issue, help fellow 09ers! (or fellow members)

:uhhuh: Also, are you planning on doing 4U maths? I can't remember if you are or not but all those accelerated maths courses seem to indicate that you might :D From what I can gather that has nice-ish scaling, right? Maybe?

    Half-Yearly Thoughts

Finally got most of my marks back...this is what I'm guessing for overall marks, based on test results - haven't actually got my report back yet :D English - either A or A+ ...around VHA 6 or 7 perhaps? Maths B - A - VHA 5 Maths C - A+ - VHA 9 (so close...) Biology - A- - VHA...1...
