You'll find that you learn where they all are. I remember just after I started, my supervisor got me to serve smokes...I was 17 at the time haha Just tell them you'd rather not serve smokes and I'm sure they'd understand. Not sure about everyone else but at my store, staff actually like serving...

i'm really gonna miss tearing covers off magazines at 11:30pm at night…*sarcasm* i also agree with with danberg…facebook would just be creepy and hard to manage. yeah, i think one of my managers photocopied/laminated that article and posted it throughout the staffroom, lockers, etc. i...

Harry778, did you take the photo of you in your supervisor vest? James.

Well, I tried to tell the girl on the phone, "You realise that I'm only trained for the front end?" and she said it would be fine. I do recall some sort of 'fresh food' training, however that was almost two years ago (when i started with the company) and I'm sure I've forgotten most...

The store I am hoping to transfer to has 3 express checkouts, smokeshop and service desk all in one, but it's all brand new (2010 format). It would suck for the supervisor who would have to serve when it's busy. Does anyone remember the store format before the last two. It was a much darker...

The tagline: "It’s more than a job. It’s an obsession" comes to mind.

Thanks Harry778...I think my store is weird. Am I right? This is the (recently) new jumper with the 'stylised W' or apple peel, as some people have described it:

LOL. I have never actually seen the supervisor 'vest'. Doesn't seem to exist at my store. I actually like the new logo on the shirts...just wish it would actually say "WOOLWORTHS" on the shirt so that customers don't ask, "Where am I?" when they get to the checkout.

I think stores will probably get the new shirts as they are refurbished. All staff at my store received the new shirts when we were rebranded from SAFEWAY to WOOLWORTHS. LOL its been nine months now, yet everyone I know still calls it SAFEWAY. I called spotless yesterday and asked about...

Does anyone here know if having a parent working for, and owning shares of the competition (i.e. Wesfarmers) is a conflict of interest? I asked during training last year but they said it should be OK. Also, used self-serve this morning. It's much better being able to select 'new bag' without...

Sorry, didn't realise that you haven't started yet. Don't worry - you'll find that you learn this stuff as you go along.

At my store, we're supposed to lock registers properly when not using them and log them off completely when unattended. It's more of a safety thing. Scan rates shouldn't matter if you're doing your job properly. iMathew, what scan rates are you currently getting? I'm guessing 15-16 a minute...

Please don't take what I said out of context. I love working in retail, with a variety of different people. Woolworths is an extremely flexible company, which is great for students like us. However...If all I ever aspired to in life was a career in retail, that would disappoint a lot of...

Yeah. My store has been pretty dead the past couple of weeks, because of school holidays. But that's weird about closing at 6pm! (We've always closed at midnight, afaik) You poor, poor messed up kid. A job at Woolworths is hardly a badge of honour. Most casuals/part timers at our age are...

I didn't know we were supposed to. My CSM says that the isle number and location is good enough. Usually, if I can't help the customer find what they're after, I'll call someone from the appropriate department. Except when it's clear that they haven't made any attempts to find it for themselves...

some of the stories on this thread are absolutely hilarious! it's amazing just how stupid some customers are! i had a funny moment at my store tonight. it was my first time as a self-serve attendant after getting a brief run down of all the functions. while my supervisor was on his break, i...
