I did the ATAR calculator, apparently through all my subjects I have to get 80-85 to get above 75 ATAR. Don't rely too much on it, just do what you can cause that's what you can do, your best.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? We have a qualified Japanese teacher who can teach Year 7 to the Extension course and they told me that the class can't be on because I was the only person doing it. Then half of my free periods, I see her walking around doing nothing.

It's about 76 people in my year.

They did it with French Extension with one person.

I really hate it. I am hopefully, going to persuade them to a) let me have a 'class' as such with the teacher for Year 12 because OHS is sucky and b) let me try Ext. Japanese for couple of weeks and by the end of the term I will judge if I am good enough to do it for another year.

Like everyone said, they can't just say "Nah, we won't allow you to do it". I was 'refused' to do Ext. Then do well in Standard then. Get a Band 5 or 6. It's not that hard. It's a thing called 'work', I suggest you do it. Then as soon as you work hard in Standard and rest of your subjects, get all Band 6s, then problem solved. It's just English, the difference, again, is the texts and the idea...

Assuming it's like Continuers, haven't the teachers given you a vocabulary booklet of all the words that you suppose to know before the HSC (including kanji)? If not, ask your teacher.

The only difference between Standard & Advance is what texts you do and that Standard's concepts are easier than Advance. I do Standard and I'm fine with it. As long as you get a good class and a good teacher you should befine. Those who think Standard will go apeshit and bring down your ATAR is...
