    2 unit maths revision

To all above attempting this question, learn to read properly. You are finding points of intersection of: y=\sqrt{4-x^2} and x-y+2=0 So (x+2)^2=4-x^2 \\ x^2+4x+4=4-x^2\\ x^2+2x=0 \\ x=0, -2\\y=2, 0

what is the raw mark equivalating to a 95 in MX2?

How many years ago did your friend mark papers? The epic scaling could be because the exams were a lot harder back then, and the syllabus has been dumbed down since 1980s. Nowadays any good 4 unit students should be able to get at least the majority of questions 1-6, while getting some of...

which major should i choose from commerce for the course of Bcomce/Bscience(ad maths)

    Help on intergration

    [2(1)-\frac{1}{3}-1]-[2(-1)-\frac{(-1)^3}{3}-(-1)] = \frac{2}{3}-(-\frac{2}{3})=\frac{4}{3} thats what i got??
  11. D

    Help on intergration

you mean \int_{-1}^{1} 2-(x^2+1) dx = [2x-\frac{x^3}{3}-x]_{-1}^{1} then you are correct.
  12. D

    Help on intergration

diagram looks like the attachment. Area you want is in red. So answer is | \int_{-3}^{-2} -y^2-5y-6 dy|

How much do you have to spend on textbooks?

For maths: prob ~$20 on course notes For finance: over $200 (will try to avoid) .... damn commerce courses

    Should I do 5 units in Semester 1 if I've got a 7hr gap?

you need to be an exceptional student (extremely high ATAR) for the faculty to let you overload in your very first semester. Certain faculties are more flexible than others in terms of overloading.

which major should i choose from commerce for the course of Bcomce/Bscience(ad maths)

Re: which major should i choose from commerce for the course of Bcomce/Bscience(ad ma \facepalm This is what we are suggesting you don't do. Either do finance in a single commerce degree OR quant risk in a single maths degree, but not both together. If you insist on doing finance in...

People at uni doesn't seem really smart

+1. High ATAR may not indicate intelligence and common sense, but low ATAR (<50) indicates stupidity

which major should i choose from commerce for the course of Bcomce/Bscience(ad maths)

Re: which major should i choose from commerce for the course of Bcomce/Bscience(ad ma ^That, or alternately either do: - Quant risk alone in an advanced maths degree (You do most of the finance courses as you would in a finance major + you may learn some real maths in maths courses).
