    General Thoughts: Mathematics Extension 1

FUCK, I could've done Question 7, but i got scared off and spent way too long on the other questions, didn't even touch Q7. Fucking hell, argh, pretty hard paper really. Easily harder than any past year (except maybe 2006, on par there.)

    Xena, probably...

*starts taking off his clothes* No? Not that hot? Damn... Till next time, Nelly.

    The"I'm fucked" thread.

Yo. I'm not sure how fucked I am, but if Binomial Theorem is Question 7, well, I'll lose the 6 marks or 7 marks instantly. On the otherhand, Projectile Motion for Question 7 and i'm fucking in the clear, I love that shit. Any Simple Harmonic questions will need to be fucking easy otherwise I...

    Xena, probably...

I noticed it, laughed, and wondered what type of games they would be playing in which Xena actually had a chance of losing at all. Gabriella's got nothing on Xena.

We're going through the entire paper, posting answers.

    Say what? 2(n+1) - n ------------ n(n+1) 2n + 2 - n ------------ n(n+1) = n + 2 --------- n(n+1) I guess not anymore... Question 4 b) 50 x 1.2 = 60 (first application) 60 x 1.2 = 72 (second application) 72 x 1.2 = 86.4 (third) 86.4 x 1.2 = 103.68 (fourth) 103.68 x 1.2 = 124.416 (fifth)...

Someone post up the answers :D

Eh? ln x = -1 can be done... You're thinking of ln (-1) = x which is undefined. But ln x = -1 can be done and you can try this on your calculator, go for it.

    Quick Answers To Some Questions!

    50 x 1.2 = 60 (first application) 60 x 1.2 = 72 (second application) 72 x 1.2 = 86.4 (third) 86.4 x 1.2 = 103.68 (fourth) 103.68 x 1.2 = 124.416 (fifth) 124.416 x 1.2 = 149.2992 (sixth) 149.2992 x 1.2 = 179.159 (seventh) 179.159 x 1.2 = 214.49 (eighth) continuing on... 214.49 x 1.2 = 257...

    7a) x = 2e^(-3) ? Thats it? Sorry Ipod, I think you got it wrong. ln x - (3/ln x) = 2 Let u = ln x u - 3/u = 2 u^2 - 3 = 2u u^2 - 2u - 3 = 0 (u - 3)(u + 1) = 0 u = 3, u = -1 ln x = 3, ln x = -1 x = e^(3) and x = e(-1)

OMG!! did we get slipped a GENERAL paper???

Yea but are those the guys who tried to integrate ln (x-2)? If so, they're probably lying about how well they did and will get owned. But we'll see! What does someone's ability to do question 10a) have to do with how well they did in the paper? Nothing, but hell, why not stir something up.

what raw mark do you need to get a band 6???

Raw mark for band 6 is 108/120. So unless the rest of the state found this exam difficult, you won't make it.

The Easiest 2 Unit Math Paper Ever!! - 2008

Easiest? Hell no. Easy? Yes. Question 10 was do-able, and every other question before that was easy. Save Question 9b), where i made a fucking terrible mistake where I put 12 payments instead of 144 even though it said it in the question, sigh. Oh well, still expecting Band 6/High Band 5.

How to simplify circle geometry statements?

My teacher just told us to put (Product of Intercepts) Similiarly, the angle between the chord and a tangent (Alternate Segment Theorem)

If I do pretty well in 8 of my units, but do really badly in 2, am I doomed?

You're fucked. Not really, you just need some Band 6's in your other subjects, plus a decent Band 3/4 in Maths and you're fine.
  18. R

    whos ready for maths??

2 unit wont be bad, like some other poster said, just go through and do Questions 7->10. 3 unit though, oh boy, pain train fucking incoming.

    Curious: L's or P's-class of '08

My parents started sleeping in the car after the 20th hour. It felt like I already had my P's and everything before I got them... except I just couldn't leave without my mummy :P

    Study trials or not?

You're scaring me man, you're going to get a Band 6 and make us look bad. I'm too busy studying for Math and Math Extension :/ Ah well, I would think even as a Year 11 you notice that IPT really isn't all that difficult :P It's just making sure you refer to the question/case study they give...
