    datin scene at usyd

General positive correlation between low atar and good looks. Most are ganga-ish though. Uts probably has the best mix.

Accounting students looking for f/t or p/t work

Hey mate, you won't find usyd candidates here. I suggest posting an ad on our careerhub - that will definitely attract quality applications.

Interest and Job prospects for different uni degrees.

Given the oversupply of grads in most fields now, wouldn't you say the additional requirement of 'experience' is just a way to differentiate the active from the passive students? No doubt it's very hard to get experience early on though (not sure how it works in hr). Way too many people in...

Difference between Med and Adv Science for Medicine?

haha nah, I meant he had an atar of 98.95 or .75 - if they considered that (not sure). But you should defs be happy with a 6.7 plus gpa in med sci/science though. Pretty good!

Difference between Med and Adv Science for Medicine?

Engineering was once the top choice for most bright students, it definitely isn't anymore (not even in some developing countries). Career opportunities and progression aren't that great. Med gives you more opportunities, job security and earning potential. But my mates that do engo love it. Not...

Difference between Med and Adv Science for Medicine?

Given that you want to get into med, do it at uws - if you rank well within the cohort plus a somewhat decent umat (80 ish if you live in the west) - you can get in pretty smoothly

Is Corporate Finance 2 Harder or is Investment and Portfolio Management FINC3017 hard

Re: Is Corporate Finance 2 Harder or is Investment and Portfolio Management FINC3017 That's fine. Just don't do them together. I did pretty well in Corp 1 (ranked) and doing ipm and Corp 2 together is absolute fuckery. It will kill your wam. From past students, Corp 2 is one of the...

bachelor of business at UTS vs bachelor of eco/commerce at UNSW

In terms of difficulty, from the people who transferred from UTS to USYD, business degree is relatively easy in terms of marks and exams set etc at uts. I would see this as an advantage - you get to spend more time working etc. In terms of job opportunities, it doesn't really matter too much...

    Combined Law

If you scroll through some of the recent threads, you will find a few unsw law students trying to get into usyd law. That may indicate something. The type of work you are trying to get into, usyd would probably help you get there better in terms of the opportunities available. If you do comm...

    Law transfer!

That is incorrect. Usyd doesn't distinguish between internal and external transfers (which sucks for some people because you have kids with inflated wams from uws applying). I transferred with 98.85 and a HD average, but some of my friends had lower combination (77 was lowest wam I heard with...

    Commerce/Engineering at UNSW

That should be a good enough reason to do the degree. You can drop it if you don't like it after the first year. I was in your position (probably worse, because was also thinking about law or economics) and a major reason that engo/comm appealed to me was because of the maths component. I think...

    BCom/LLB - UNSW or USYD

I chose USYD. The reputation for UNSW commerce mainly exists on BoS - employers don't really distinguish between these two (UTS is pretty much on par for most acct/finance jobs other than IB/MBB). MBA in Australia though, definitely UNSW. If UNSW undergrad comm was really the pinnacle, top kids...

    Transfer from UNSW to USYD

Comm/law is 5 years. Eng/law is 5.5 years. Transferring would mean OP will miss out on things like Honours etc (you need to complete a certain amount of units at usyd). Transfering would be inconvenient because he/she will probably have to re-do a couple of units and also the social aspect. OP...

    Transfer from UNSW to USYD

Fair enough. Judging from what people in years above told me though - they aren't that different. I'm aware about the transcript issue - his WAM will be reset - employers will still look at the UNSW units. I will just reiterate my initial post - it is possible to transfer but is inconvenient...

    Entry to USYD

Was at comm/llb offer from usyd? If so, some solid eas there, I know people who missed out with 99.6. Economics is a solid degree, but doing Comm(Eco major) has many advantages: you get IPP program (internships etc for non penultimates), Washington D.C. Exchange/LA exchange etc where you...

    Transfer from UNSW to USYD

lol. If you take that as a deciding factor for picking a law school - you're doing it wrong. Some units are closed book (like contracts and torts - which don't really require you to memorise too much - just the principles etc) Things that are content heavy, are open book e.g. Public Law.
  17. R

    Transfer from UNSW to USYD

It probably is possible - but it would be inconvenient. Unless you're gunning for oxbridge exchange, just stay at unsw mate. Suspecting troll since 1 post.

How hard is it to get into Investment Banking and what degrees can you do for it?

Any of those hd average people from usyd comm/law?

How hard is it to get into Investment Banking and what degrees can you do for it?

You don't need HD WAM to get into IB. mid D average in comm/law is generally enough for most investment banks. Also, straight commerce works fine too, just be on around a HD average, dean's list and a merit scholarship etc (+ couple of top 3 ranks in finance/stats/eco/maths units at a solid uni...
