    General Thoughts: Mathematics Extension 1

If they were prepared they would have known that to get rid of odds you let x=-1 , pretty common textbook questions to multiply everything by x too, and yeah I can understand, considering I read somewhere that the median atar in some year was 69

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Extension 1

If only the last question was a harder projectile or binomial, it's not skill, it's silly mistakes that separate people

    E4 Raw Mark

80% in previous exams was a 94 I'd guess 62/70 is at least 95 for this exam

haha yeah, my schools ranked in the 100's or 200's

def b6 m8 I marked myself, fml I got 66/70 I did the 3d trig in radians LOL

I'm starting 4u nextweek, would I have done better in the exam knowing 4u?

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Extension 1

the 7th game has to be a win, therefore probability of 1/2 is locked in any of the remaining 6 has to have exactly 4 wins so 6C4 (1/2)^6 so multiply in the 7th game for part i

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Extension 1

I drew a diagram and put the angle as alpha, I wrote alpha = pi/6 is this enough for full marks? after getting tan alpha = -1/rt3 ofc the next part I wrote since y dot / x dot <0 and x dot is always positive, therefore ydot is negative therefore it is going down

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Extension 1

was the projectile going up or down?

couldnt do last 2 marks, no silly mistakes is 68/70 but theres bound to be mistakes

Re: HSC 2015 3U Marathon Yeahh, I realised that 5 seconds after I posted it, I added t>0 just about after you got to it

Re: HSC 2015 3U Marathon facepalm, I'm not used to no diagrams, I interpreted the launches to be both from A, so when I equated their y-values, It all cancelled haha next question $ simplify $S=e^{-2t}+2e^{-4t}+3e^{-6t}+4e^{-8t}+..........$ t>0

Re: HSC 2015 3U Marathon anyone know how to do this? http://puu.sh/kWQRX/39aa4f9a6b.jpg Since the question tells you the particles collide, could I make x[a] = x[b] (particles a and b) and eliminate t? so Vsin(alpha) = Ucos(beta) --> only when they collide And prove LHS = RHS when subbing in...

Simple question but how draw this graph

and if I'm really stuck on a hard graph, I can score some marks for playing connect the dots, and putting in key information, that's only if I can't do the questions beforehand.

Simple question but how draw this graph

sorry guys!! for not clarifying, what I meant was for example f(x) = x^2, I would type in my calculator (answer)^2 then press AC, I would then for example let x=1, so I press 1 and then equals, then I press up then equals again, this gives me the y-value of the curve instantly. This is...

Re: HSC 2015 3U Marathon Thanks a lot, I dumbed out and tried to compare 'a' to the constant term instead of the leading coefficient to no success

Simple question but how draw this graph

I always get paranoid during exams about graphs, so after I complete the questions, I compare the properties while graphing it using my calculator, I know it's a bit cheap but my calculator can graph any curve. After checking if it's odd/even/neither first
