Extra studying apart from Uni commitments

You still do 4 units per semester in a double degree, so I don't see how it is anymore rigorous than a single degree.

    NO accommodation

Lol $380 to live at UniLodge? Even living in an apartment 20 minutes away from the Melbourne CBD with a pool, tennis courts and gym costs about the same! Talk about a TOTAL RIP OFF.

    NO accommodation

Agreed. I read through some of the other threads from previous years and people were having the exact same problems. I think last year or in 2008, ANU had no vacancies left, so a lot of people ended up getting put into a hotel, motel and other off campus accommodation. In fact, I saw some people...

when is everyone moving to canberra?

Probably go on the 13th or 14th, just before O-Week. Still no accommodation offer as of yet (apparently they have a crisis this year), so still an uncertain future for me ...

    NO accommodation

I also have no accommodation offer at the moment, although it says I am being considered for UniLodge. However going by your comments, it seems I, along with a few others will not be getting into any ANU halls or UniLodge. Edit: I saw on the FAQ by Davo that they will sometimes end up putting...

Why is going to top-tiered universities like Harvard or MIT etc so difficult?

Well since undergrad degrees all take 4 years to complete in the US, that would be 240k USD...

    Uni lodge........advice please

I think there will be many 1st years in UniLodge, so as long as you get out there and make an effort to be social then I don't think it will be that bad at all. And as for defering, I highly advise you DON'T defer. What if you don't get into any of your college preferences next year? You would...

what's harder, getting 90+ ATAR or getting distinction + (6+ gpa)

I know of people who got an ATAR between 70-80 and worked very hard to achieve a D or HD average in order to transfer to a better University or to another course such as Law. So in my opinion, your ATAR has little to do with the marks you'll get in Uni. In my honest opinion, its not "harder" in...

    Information on Accommodation

I don't think its a first come first serve basis, I think they try to balance their college communities according to interests, gender, academic abilitiy, sporting ability etc. I mean if 90% of the college were males while the other 10% were females simply because the males all happened to apply...
