    Economic Essays

even though all the questions are different, they are still all from the course. So just know all your stuff, and be ready to apply it if the question asks you to. thats about as prepared as you can get for eco essays.

    UAI Estimate, Please.

Quite frankly no one in this thread knows what they're talking about. None of us are good sustitutes for uac; just focus on the hsc, not much point dwelling over uais now

If I want to get 95

Last year some friends of mine got 98 in the hsc and they estimated their exam mark to be 116 - 117/120 (which is in the 97ish% arena) so yeh they definitely moderate, probably a bit more than this in a harder exam.

    Economic Jargon

don't really need to know them. could use in an essay but even then, its not a major requirement or anything. I wouldn't bother tbh.

Quick Q - Inflation and Int Competitiveness

inflation means that prices within the economy rise. so exporting firms now have to pay more for their inputs into production. as a result, they have to raise their export prices in order to recover these increased costs. and now their international competitiveness declines, as their products...

    The Thesis.

your introduction is NOT your thesis. I think you would get docked in the HSC for not introducing your texts - you do get marked on structure and writing in the correct form. Just introduce your texts, I mean how long is it going to take you - 20 seconds? Better be safe then sorry.

    Induced Currents (question)

cwag's got it right. op, are you sure you weren't using your left hand? I do that sometimes.

    australian dollar falling rapidly

its got to do with speculators - they sell off the dollar when a rate cut is expected to benefit from the rate cut.

    Practising Australian Scientist

actually i'm pretty sure that for all sciences you need to know about a practising scientist. You could probably just use one for all of em.

    Accelerated maths anyone?

with an external mark of 97 - 98 and a ranking of 40th, you're probably looking at something like 90 or 91. (at a selective school) also a word of advice for accelerants - DONT PANIC. The HSC won't feel like any other exam you've done, even though it'll be at the same place, in the same format...

    fundemental limit of sinx/x

i think you take out the 3, and depending on whether its 3x/sinx, or sinx/3x, then the answer is either 3 or 1/3.

o Role of courts, tribunals and the employment advocate

some people argue that workchoices was necessary to deregulate the labour market, have greater flexibility and drive down the cost of labour to make us more internationally competitve and more productive. others however see WorkChoices as not properly protecting the rights of workers and hence...

Very quick Q from Trial papers

you could also mention substitution of labour with capital equipment so that business supply can keep up with demand.

o Role of courts, tribunals and the employment advocate

Since the whole IR system is a mess its a bit hard to address all of those, but for the 1st point talk about the AFPC and the AIRC, their roles in setting min standards and solving industrial disputes. I think the employment advocate got replaced or renamed or sumthing, for the 2nd point just...

How many pages for a 20 mark question?

    Calculations in Balance of Payments

the balance on goods and services is the sum of net goods and net services, ie it is equal to ( - $15b) + ( - $6b) = - $21b as for the most likely reason of the CAD, yes it is the net income component, because it makes up the majority of the CAD, and doesn't have a tendency to change like the...

    Economics Help

its a pretty open ended area, it could be referring to a range of things. . . maybe the operation of different markets such as the labour market and the financial market, and the differing successes and failures (can talk about unions, regulations for protection of rights, and then for...
