    Question about scaling...

Actually yes, I do legal studies and I find that it is a straightforward subject. That may not be your point of view, fine, I respect that, but that's the way I see legal studies. I do acknowledge that legal studies requires a bit more than just learning a textbook, like most subjects, but I...

    Question about scaling...

yeh legal doesnt scale well because its an easy subject, but i think people are referring to UAC scaling rather than HSC scaling.

    Extreme maths challenge

Its probably an attention thing, you know, more people are likely to respond to the post if its some sort of a challenge, and hence you get what you want (a solution) quicker.

Word Limit , Does It Count ?

just decrease the font size and margins - it always works well. having said that, if your teacher's really big on the word limit + picky, try and stay within 1300 words.

when you say "change preferences", does that include changing the courses, or is that just changing the order of the preferences?

"the naturally smart kids aren't usually the ones who do well in the HSC"

i think that naturally talented people are able to do just as well in the hsc, but usually don't put in as much effort, simply because they don't need to/don't see the need.

school sending in lots of tied ranks...implications?

Re: school sending in lots of tied ranks... good or bad? for equal first, the implication is that both of those people will get an average of the top 2 hsc assessment marks attained by the school. That would kinda suck for the person who gets their mark dragged down (if there is a substantial...

2007 HSC - Easier or Not?

last year's hsc papers were so much easier than most other years. which probably means that this yr's papers are gonna be hard. way harder.
  10. M

what does the hsc actually measure.

testing memory, analytical skills, ability to express ideas and effectively communicate, problem solving, selection of relevant info from course to meet question requirements. . . on the most part though its memory.

Another UAI estimate(Only the 10 billionth in the forum, heh!)

Which is why I said "provided you're estimating your HSC marks correctly" I still don't think these threads are reliable uai estimates. There is no solid basis for what number people churn out, it's really a guessing game. I don't trust it, and I think it'd be foolish to be trusting them in the...

Another UAI estimate(Only the 10 billionth in the forum, heh!)

I completely agree on this. A friend of mine did a bit of an experiment on the validity of these threads - posted up her ranks and compared people's responses to uai calculators. Seriously, these people are waay off, the uai calculators are definitely more accurate, provided you're correctly...

    Urgent Help

    1) think about the types of externalities that exist and how each can affect certain things . . . will it be a positive/negative impact? what will happen as a consequence? 2)Choose one specific example that you can think of and logically think about an impact . . . will it impact firms, or...

    Presents for teachers

i usually suggest chocolate, everyone loves chocolate. alternatively, mugs are great, since teachers always seem to be drinking coffee.
