    Buses during peakhour

Yeah, they've kind of fixed the problem now and was about time that they did. Good on 'em. But man, back in 2012, those lines. One day, it went back all the way to the traffic lights where the bus makes that first left turn out of Eddy.

    Difference between seminars and tutorials?

Dunno about seminars and tutorials, but I have a funny feeling that seminar=lecture. If so, basically during the seminar the lecturer speaks most of the time with some interaction with the students since the class size is usually large. During the tutorial though, the tutor will focus on each of...

    Nearby hilly areas around UNSW

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, considered it, but Basser and Scientia are out of the question since it'll look weird and embarrassing seeing someone walking up and down them for an hour, as is running around campus. I'll check out Barker when I get back (never have explored that side of uni).

    Job suggestions?

What field in psych? If clinical psychology, I would look into volunteering and giving back to the community whilst also working on a casual basis if possible (might not be with HSC). Psychology is a really hard and competitive field to get into though. You need really good marks in psychology...

    Job suggestions?

What's wrong with hospitality? You're mostly always busy and getting the mind and body stimulated. In my opinion, it's better than retail, which looks very boring and not challenging enough.

    Nearby hilly areas around UNSW

Does anyone know of any nearby substantial hills around UNSW that are quite void of people and not actually in UNSW? I'm looking to spend my break time at uni at somewhere deserted to get my fitness up without people looking at me and finding me a wanker. Thanks.

UNSW O Week 2014 chat thread

Yep, that bad; a terrible movie. A very weak plot, uninteresting characters, and a really bad and cheesy ending. I find it disrespectful to the people who actually lost their lives that day. Any history buff will be pissed too. What a waste of time, that movie. The only good things about the...

UNSW O Week 2014 chat thread

    'Pompeii' was shit.

    Job suggestions?

Unless if you're working in civil service or in the military, use your connections really. That's how I got my jobs. It's a really crap thing to accept, but it's the truth really in most parts of the business world.

Will not be getting UNSW student ID card in 5 weeks...

They won't accept your high school ID. I brought mine, and they didn't accept it, and I had to bring my passport the next day. I think anything with a photo of you and your signature should do though.

What to expect on the 1st day of Uni...

Yeah, those first lectures and tutorials where you introduce each other are cringe-worthy. Also, expect to be a bit lost and crowding over the map stands at uni with other first-years if you haven't done a reconnaissance of your rooms already during O-week.

How can I work ..and get into university?

Since you're older than 21, another option for you to get into uni is through doing the STAT without doing all that foundation stuff at UWS, I believe. Here's the link to it if you want to have a read. http://stat.acer.edu.au/ http://www.uac.edu.au/stat/what-is-stat.shtml Here is a link...

    Driving Manual cars

Driving manual, while difficult, is also a good skill to learn if you plan on driving trucks or joining Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service or the ADF since most if not all medium rigid vehicles and heavier are of manual transmission. Furthermore, if you plan to visit Europe or live...

    Guide to hiking

Just to add to this. For those who are carrying more than 10kg on their shoulders, make sure you do the straps up tight on your bag, so that your bag is level right with your back. If you let the straps down too much, your bag will sag down and you'll add gravity to the weight of your bag and...

    Majoring in language studies?

Cool. Personally, I think that if you're learning French just for the sake of traveling, I would study French at the UNSW Institute of Languages instead, and minor in something else. http://www.languages.unsw.edu.au/courses/other-languages/french It's much cheaper, and more attention is...

    Majoring in language studies?

Hey, mate. I'm a French major at UNSW. OK, if you are going to major in French and you're starting out with no previous knowledge of the language, you'll have to do nine French courses. The courses you'll have to do are the following: Intro French A (A1) Intro French B (A1) Intermediate French...

    Advice for timetable :(

OK, fair enough. You did the right thing. That guy is freaking freaky. Who the hell asks those types of questions to a stranger?!

Help Me out? Women in OK Egypt

Though the topic is pretty restricted (can't you do NK instead of OK?), I think you have enough info. You can just pad it out with anecdotes or further elaboration on the points you made. For example, for the point 'husbands were told to remain faithful to them', I'm guessing there should be an...

First Year Arts Courses - difficulty UNDERRATED?

I found the content very interesting as the course makes you realise how connected everything is in history, no matter how small the event is. Though it is a bit rushed, by the end of it, you'll have a good all-round knowledge on world history and the dynamics (I think that's the right word)...

First Year Arts Courses - difficulty UNDERRATED?

For history, I'm guessing that you're doing the first year world history one, yes? If so, for that you get a weekly reading in which then you have to answer some questions on it by the end of the week. The readings aren't quite long (20-50 pages, relatively medium print), but all those wanky...
