What method do your teachers use for giving out notes?

E.g In economics my teacher dictates the notes from text book for us to write down and sometimes we just have to summarise it ourselves from the text book. In legal studies my teacher summarises it and then projects it on the smart board for us to copy down. Yup, probably could have phrased...

What is your average after school day? (tutoring, study?)

Get home a bit before 4pm. 4-5pm: chillax, eat, shower, Facebook, YouTube etc. Then after that I'll summarise my notes I've written that day. Then I'll try to do any homework from that day or assignments. Chuck in dinner, another 1/2-1 hour of chilling on the internet and all that other jazz...

YEAR 11 is it as BRUTAL as people say? Can someone answer that ?

For me personally I didn't really feel like it was a huge leap from junior years. I feel like one thing that you should try and keep in perspective is that none of your marks in year 11 count towards your ATAR. Now don't get me wrong, you should still and put everything you've got into the...

Why have you had a detention?

I got lunch detention in year seven with a bunch or other people because we didn't do a title page for PE ^_^

Senior Year: Loose Leaf or Exercise Book?

I used to use books and loose leafs in year 11 but I switched entirely to loose leafs with an exception to maths just because I find it easier to work in a book for maths. If you're naturally an unorganised person definitely use books.

    Insight into eco plz

It goes without saying that practically every subject requires attention if you want to do well.

    Textbooks

We used MiF for 2U but I don't recommend it at all. It's pretty crap. For economics most people use either Tim Dixon+John O'Mahony or Tim Riley but for prelim I would suggest Dixon/O'Mahony just because it's easier to understand but then in Y12 I would suggest using Riley (or both text books...

    Your Motivators

Lol this for me too. But also just for personal satisfaction I guess.

    New Tim Riley Eco Textbook?

The 2014 edition has already come out (it's a blue cover). I'm pretty sure the new edition is usually out in term 4 for y11 people transitioning into y12 because I got my copy at this start of this term/year 12. Here's a link for it if you need it...

What was your childhood dream job, and what is it now?

Then: lawyer/someone working in an office job in general Now: magazine editor/journalist/perhaps something in the legal or business field

Do you write or type your notes?

I write all my notes in class for all my subjects but when I get home I summarise it an type it out. Then I (sometimes) re-write them again when studying for exams.

Last movie you watched? And what you thought of it?

Could not agree any more. I went to the cinemas today without any high hopes for the film but wow, definitely better than the first one by far.

    Studying during the term?

Oh god for a typical week day I don't think I could give you an exact number of hours or anything but it really isn't too intensive at all. I enjoy most of my subjects so it's not too much of a pain to work through the assignments.

Preliminary Textbooks for Economics and Business Studies

Excel's economics book is pretty much rubbish as it's very brief although the exercise questions are somewhat useful. If you can get your hands on one from your local/school library I would suggest taking photos/scanning/photocopying of the practice questions. As for an actual text book to use...

    Studying during the term?

I usually just come home and summarise the notes I've written for that day and try to start/do assignments. Lots of self discipline involved but hopefully it will be all worth it in the end.

What is everyone up to at school?

For business we're doing operations strategies (inventory management). In economics we are currently doing the reasons for inequality. I'm curious as to where everyone else is because I feel like we're really behind because my teacher wastes endless periods just talking about what we're going...
