Has anyone completed this subject? If so, would you be so kind to give me some previous exam hints and tips? Was the essay topic used for an exam question? Thank you :)

    Headings in legal essay

Thanks for the replies. I have read the citation guide and I still don't understand. I handed in the essay with headings that were in bold, same font, in capital letters...Guess we'll see what happens!

    Insane work load

Group work is the best! (incase you missed it the first time it the first time). Every business group work project I had at UTS resulted in me doing 90% of the work, effectively meaning I was doing the assignment myself, with one extra assingment for each subject. I found it very difficult to...

    Pae

Thanks for that. I was finding all matter of PAE acronyms, and not the one I was after. It is obviously assumed knowledge..

    Pae

Ok great thanks. My Google search was to no avail..

    Pae

I am confused. When a job advertisement requires two years PAE, does this refer to the two years after admission and PLT? Or is it two years after a two year contract? Clearly I have no idea. Please help me.

Anyone interested in practising law in a country town?

I think you will find there are stupid and annoying people everywhere, not just those who walk off the street..

"..growing number of law schools .. around the world that have moved to a JD.."

I can understand how USYD grad law would benefit your situation, there is also an option to choose extra law electives instead of the PLT within the Juris Doctor. Of course this would mean a higher cost overall when you enrol in PLT seperately. The JD is six months shorter than the graduate...

"..growing number of law schools .. around the world that have moved to a JD.."

Yes the price certainty wasn't appealing. I have applied successfully for FEE - HELP for the JD which is essentially a commonwealth loan. I think the Graduate dip PLT is included in the price of the JD, and this would be at least one reason for the inflated price. I have noticed that any...

    Cross-Institutional-Study : Insolvency Law

Yes there is a lot of red tape but it is worth it in the end. It is interesting to meet students from a different university and experience how a different uni facilitates itself.

    Cross-Institutional-Study : Insolvency Law

In regards to your query about cross institutional study, I completed three electives at a university other than my own. Cross institutional study is a bit of a bureaucratic nightmare. You have to get approval from your university, then approval from the university you plan to study at. I was...

"..growing number of law schools .. around the world that have moved to a JD.."

I would have expected greater opinion on the matter. Perhaps people are not informed enough just yet, I have spoken to a few solicitors that are not even aware what a JD is! The graduate entry (only) law degree in the Australian context is also a new concept to many people. On the commencement...

"..growing number of law schools .. around the world that have moved to a JD.."

UTS confirmed today that 'postgraduate only' refers to Juris Doctor students at UTS. And I believe you are correct that other Australian law schools will be following Melbourne University..

"..growing number of law schools .. around the world that have moved to a JD.."

Yes I am thoroughly confused. Thanks for your assistance. I have been reading a lot about the JD vs the LLB debate. Regardless of sentiment among undergraduate law students it appears that Australia will be slowly follow suit. I am undecided with regard to what is the best tertiary education...

"..growing number of law schools .. around the world that have moved to a JD.."

RogueAcademic thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have contacted student administration about the matter. From my student administration profile UTS have regarded the core JD subjects as 'core LLB subjects'. Obviously this is because all law degrees in Australia must adhere to certain...

"..growing number of law schools .. around the world that have moved to a JD.."

The option for all subjects on the student administration website states 'postgraduate students only' or 'LLB students' for exactly the same subjects. I believe by postgraduate, they mean Juris Doctor students. For example I have chosen 'criminal law' for postgraduate only. All the core subjects...

"..growing number of law schools .. around the world that have moved to a JD.."

I am a 1st year JD student initiating study in March. Upon registering for tutorials this year I selected classes with the option of 'postgraduate only'. My understanding is that the JD is taught at a postgraduate level. I have completed postgraduate qualifications in business, of which I...
