HSC 2015 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

Re: MX2 2015 Integration Marathon May I ask what made you think of using a substitution for this? Being the noob I am I would probably try to do integration by parts on that...

How do you do your past papers?

I'm doing two papers a day at the moment, I find it hard to get through the last questions, as I just can't be bothered at that point... (this doesn't happen to me in actual exams of course), yet I feel like I haven't done enough work if I do less papers a day/do it like an exercise.

How do you do your past papers?

Just curious as to how everyone does it? Do you sit there for the full 3 hours, and actually do the 5 minutes reading time, or just go through trial papers like an exercise from a textbook? I try to do the former, but 3 hours straight everyday eventually becomes so hard to mentally endure :mad2:

    An ATAR estimate please?

If one tries hard enough, anyone can get below 75

    State rank differentation

Just curious, in a subject like 2u maths, a lot of people get 99 or 100/100 for the exam, many of which are also ranked first in their internals. How do they differentiate who comes 1st, 2nd, third etc for state ranks when I would imagine lots of ties would happen, not only in maths, but other...

    Dot point help

"use the rhyberg equation to calculate the ionisation energy of hydrogen" \ Im guessing the final shell would be infinity, initial is one, and use just sub that in, but I get 10.something when it should be 13.6 The other question is a diagram that asks to calculate the wavelength of the photon...

    Dot point help

Can anyone show me how to do: 1.71 (no idea how to do this) 1.73(b): I subbed in n=3, n=6 to the equations for final and initial respectively (and then reciprocated) but got the wrong answer. Both questions from quanta to quarks area

    Related text restrictions

I'm not doing a prescribed text, (or im pretty sure im not, as I don't think anyone has paintings as core texts?). Just wanted to double check to be 100% safe.

    Related text restrictions

It is not a prescribed text is it? I want to use one of the paintings that features in the book. Or does anything that appears in the book (eg, Van Gogh's paintings) automatically put it on the prescribed list as it appears in a prescribed text?

    Related text restrictions

For my related text I want to use a text that is also used in 'The Art of Travel' (mod C text). Is this ok? 'The Art of Travel' makes extensive intertextual references, and just want to make sure it is ok to use a related text that features heavily in another core text.

    requirements for co-op

Ouch, sounds touch. I'd imagine there would be at least a few hundred applying.

    textual integrity

Hmm.. idk... I only mentioned textual integrity in the concluding sentences of each body (took up maybe an extra 4-5 words) and once in the intro and conclusion, as I thought that was kind of the point of mod B (kind of like with Mod A you must have context). Ah well live and learn I guess.

    textual integrity

Just asking since I included textual integrity in my essay and the first time I introduced it (in intro), the marker underlined it and wrote "what?" so I think it negatively affected my marks as I showed how each paragraph supported my thesis and also contributed to the play's textual integrity...

    textual integrity

Are we expected to mention textual integrity for every Mod B question, or only if the question specifically says so? How much context should mod B have? Thanks in advance.

    requirements for co-op

I have played lots of sport at a decently high level, and the academic requirements should not be a problem, but I have only done one instance of community service, were I was helping raise money for a charity for a day. My only concern is I don't know if that alone will be enough. Also does...

    inconsistent behaviour of cathode rays

Asked my teacher about it yesterday.... he said he agreed with what I was saying (Crookes had a much stronger case than Hertz) but that it was mainly due to the slow speed with which information travelled in those days that caused the apparent inconsistent behaviour.

    requirements for co-op

Ok then, looks like I'll give co-op a try then haha

    requirements for co-op

Also (didn't walk to make a new thread), are there better alternatives than co-op for work experience? I'm inclined towards doing actuarial studies. The only reason I would want to do a co-op is to increase job prospects after uni, as opposed to the $18k a year you receive from it. Would...

Looking for a physics study partner - 2015 HSC

You can possibly make a thread for it if that sounds better, and we can all discuss together, just throwing an idea out there.
