Dividing an Interval in a Ratio

The point P(-3,8) divides the interval AB externally in the ratio k:1. If A is the point (6,-4) and B is the point (0,4), find the value of k. In this question, I got 3, but the answer says -3. Wouldn't that be incorrect, as our teacher told us that if the question says a point externally...

TALENT 100 Coaching homework and notes

You can go to Talent100 if you want and buy their materials that way. :) It's unlikely that anyone here will be willing to give you their materials for a lower price than they got them for.

    Coordinate Geometry Help

    Hi guys, Could you please tell me if I got the answer to this question right? The lines 8x + qy + 6 = 0 and 3x − 4y + 4 = 0 are perpendicular. Find the value of q. I got q = -6, but the answer says 6. I'm guessing a typo?

    test question

In such a situation, you would consider 75o to be correct, since it's the common answer when you use both the sine and cosine rules. As for why 105o can't be an answer, well, I can't think of a particularly good reason. The best I can think of is subbing cos105o into the cosine rule as...

    Australian Mathematics Competition Help!!

Buy the AMC books with past questions in them - there's a whole series...'practising' them can help you get a D at least... well, they helped me anyway. :) If you want to know how to get them, I think there's usually info on the back of your AMC certificate.

Just a question regarding Commerce(elective subject)

If there's no way you can ask anyone about it, I'd say something like ~1500 words, to give you a guide?? We had to do a report for Yr 10 commerce last year as well (ours was on employment issues), and that was our word count.

Thanks, guys. I forgot that there are 2! ways of arranging the C and the R, so thanks for reminding me about that (see, this is why I ask even the most seemingly trivial questions :p), and also for confirming that both given answers are wrong. :)
