    English trials?

Good thinking. Since they bulk-question module C they tend to be a tad more generic, as opposed to Hamlet or Comparative asking for a SPECIFIC aspect of the text. The issue isn't really the specification, its when they say 'how does it explore THIS_____' as opposed to 'do you agree?' - if you...

    English trials?

Possibly. 2009 Module A... 'how do texts explore disruption and identity' - if you've memorised your previous essay too thoroughly you'll slow yourself down trying to half re-write it as you go

    chances of doing interview?

Know how to, in form. Too late to bother practicing. They could ask for a speech, letter to the editor, feature article, other forms. That was more of an 'early' 21st century thing, the notion has died off recently. Not won't, just unlikely.

    English trials?

Twas ok. I mean, being in advanced its certainly not as daunting as tomorrow, plus there is a tonne more time! Short answer was ok, but the poem was hard, I still have no idea what it was really saying. Section II was ok, had to think about it a bit, but was quite specific asking for stimulus...

    2011 Trial HSC discussion

Re: Trials soon Cambridge, Pheonix, About 6 Trials, 10 Past Papers worth, Terry Lee, Firtzpatrick - all of them really :S The assessment was on such a narrow range of topics that I had the time to do ALL from each book, because there so few questions

    2011 Trial HSC discussion

Re: Trials soon Our last assessment was volumes and the polynomial/complex breed. We did so many questions, 18 out of the 36 marks on the test were on complex. I know you're pain, but man, after you do enough of them they're ok :\ And i mean, enough :\

    2011 Trial HSC discussion

Re: Trials soon Anyone else have like that break before 3U at the end? I'm not doing any 3U, then I'm just gonna cram and drink coke for those 3 days...

A question addressed to persons aiming for, or expecting, a high ATAR...

I think cramming has its perks and its times. You know, doing SOR cramming works - I've stayed up late and bludged prior, but that was with prepared tasks, and seen questions. With things like the trials you gotta let that amount of content settle a little :\ Or maybe my brain is...

Autistic or arrogant? (not you :P the ones doing it every day)

Me? Certaintly considering it! Certainly. That's why I'm part of Vinnies -_-

A question addressed to persons aiming for, or expecting, a high ATAR...

That's the plan. It's more accomodation. With campus colleges costing something like $15,000 a year, and any other stuff it would be great to get a little help from some poor idiot willing to hand out money :P

how many hours do you study a day?

That's the way! I mean, just to clarify, we talk 14 hours, but I'm still sitting here posting and talking while reading Hamlet and trying to make notes :P I've never been able to sit down and stare at something without anything even minor distracting me :S

A question addressed to persons aiming for, or expecting, a high ATAR...

Even a 99? I mean scaling equates work to a mark, making doing 4U maths with X amount of work basically similar to CAFFs with X amount of work. But what happens if someone is prone to make 5% of mistakes in any given exam? You know, an absolute error - which would impact the overall mark less...

how many hours do you study a day?

12~ hours at a desk is not difficult. Remember, that is 12 hours including any kind of break, snack, sitting around on facebook, watching youtube etc. Fact is I've bludged the previous holidays and need to catch up, and now the rest of the HSC is pretty much on cruise control. My choice, really.

A question addressed to persons aiming for, or expecting, a high ATAR...

What about money? I come from a fairly poor family and getting into engineering is as easy as pie, but getting they money to survive is another issue. Some scholarships, like the COOP one at UNSW have that 96/97 cut off mark - so even though I could get a 90 without a great deal of effort, I...

how many hours do you study a day?

These holidays, I'm at my desk for 14 hours of the day, but probably physically working for 11.5. Each and every day. Going to do 6 hour days over tomorrw and saturday to take a break though :D Then back to it. Starting to grow a study beard... and smell a bit funny :P

Is it necessary to actually read Frankenstein?

Quick query. We seem to be getting the black and whites of those reading and those not. What about if you've read it through once, say, 6 months ago. At this point in the HSC is it really worth reading again? (assuming you might be pushed for time)

    Post your half yearlies grades

I had been studying close to 5-6 hours a night and 10+ on each weekend day for 10 straight weeks. In fact, with that amount of time its aggrivating they werent higher (mainly sciences and english). English is becoming increasingly difficult to compete with the other advanced kids doing like 12...

    HSC timetable - hard copy?

Without knowing, I think it would be dependent on the school. The schools would have access to it, therefore its a matter of whether your cirriculum co-ordinatore decides to print it out / photocopy it :) maybe I'm wrong :)

    Post your half yearlies grades

    1U SOR - 100% 2U Maths - 100% 3U Maths - 100% 4U Maths - 83% Chemistry - 88% Physics - 93% Advanced English - 91% Rank 1's, except for Advanced English, which I think was 3 or 4..
