^this and besides it's never too late to drop the subject, I've known of people who have dropped the subject a week or a few days before the HSC exam, they SHOULD allow you to do it.

If you're not going to bother with maths then wouldn't it be better for you to drop it since you know it won't count? It'll save you from doing an extra assessment and more work and let you focus on your other subjects. Well, like mentioned above, I guess you'll just have to see how you go.
