    Chemistry predictions

They did that last year, with standard solution, titration and calculations in the one 8 marker. They most likely wont do the same again, don't quote me on that though hehe
  2. roryclifford

    physics/Chem final prep

Yeah unlike the 1000 equations required to learn for the option Shipwrecks lol and the rest of the core. only part i struggle with is remembering the equations
  3. roryclifford

    physics/Chem final prep

Ah yep, was just making sure he kinda knew why the electrons were pushed up in the first place, but yeah simpler just to mention absorption :) And I had no idea, thanks for telling me that, that is actually scary, knowing that missing a singular piece of info can make me lose more than one mark...

    physics/Chem final prep

For me any question = to or over 4 marks I plan out. So, say it's an 'Evaluate' question worth 6 marks, I try and think of at least 5 important pieces of information to answer the question, and a final evaluation. So say for Ethanol, if it said 'Evaluate its use as a fuel in the future' I would...

    physics/Chem final prep

Just to revise I will try and help haha. So each metal / ionic substance emits a characteristic light wavelength when electrons move up shells and then fall down right? When it moves up a shell, it absorbs the light energy of that particular wavelength, and when it 'falls' back down it emits it...

Who's doing no/little study for chem and phy???

yeah true true, I found them very hard in the beginning until I had a good grasp of the concepts but mostly it's just rote learning content, though guess more understanding based in physics :D

Who's doing no/little study for chem and phy???

haha ummmm, not really im just saying they aren't easy subjects, so he shouldnt dumb them down guess it's just the internet though hey
  8. roryclifford

    physics/Chem final prep

Oh right, so it's magnetic expulsion of ceramic S. C'ers whereas magnetic levitation of metal superconductors is explained by Lenz's law of opposing magnetic fields? Definitely going to be cramming physics after chem lol
  9. roryclifford

    physics/Chem final prep

Isn't the Meisner effect the repulsion of the magnetic field because of the opposing magnetic field haha? So they are the same, always mention meisner? Wow I need to review physics a bit more And ahk so depends on what you are graphing, makes sense, and they trip me up as well, the little...
  10. roryclifford

    physics/Chem final prep

Pretty sure the smallest amount in the question, but that's not 100%, someone might cut that down haha. Another question, do you do a line of best fit or a curve of best fit on graphs? I am never sure so also lose silly marks
  11. roryclifford

    Exam predictions

Lol I use caesium-137 (industry) and technetium-99m (medicine)
  12. roryclifford

    physics/Chem final prep

    Wish I had a panda

    Board of studies, fail ?

    You to :)
  14. roryclifford

Who's doing no/little study for chem and phy???

How can you possibly claim a subject to be easy yet say you aren't prepared? The subjects that align the best are the HARDEST, for that reason. Don't belittle a subject that you obviously struggle with.
  15. roryclifford

    Biopol

Conq. Chem says butanoate but others butyrate so idk haha
  16. roryclifford

    Board of studies, fail ?

Oh i had it haha, before I tried latex for the first time, must have accidentally deleted it. Cheers though :)
  17. roryclifford

    physics/Chem final prep

Umm 6 pages? Are you insane? Haha they mark on the right answer, its got nothing to do with length. 8 Markers have a set criteria, match the criteria you get the marks. Don't waste time writing 6 PAGES, wowee
  18. roryclifford

What is the raw mark needed to get a Band 5 in Chemistry?

Last year a raw 74 was a 91, 78 was 93 and 86 was 96 (according to that raw mark database a user submitted). 85 is definitely too high, but why not aim there anyway and see how you go. Just do your best mate

    Board of studies, fail ?

I'm not a chemistry master, but from what I did to get the right answer; I wrote out the equation, so since Citric is triprotic it will donate Hydrogen 3 times to NaOH, so 3NaOH + H_{3}C_{6}H_{5}O_{7} --------> 3H_{2}O + C_{6}H_{5}O_{7}Na Now, calculate moles of NaOH, so from the data, n...
